Not a bang for 2015, but at least a little pop!
Back from our first session for 2015 with the Mrs. at Mohegan Sun. We played in defferent areas and on different games, but both came back with the same impression. The games overall felt like pre 2010 vp games. No super premium hands, but lots of back and forth play with quads coming in just about as they should. This was a fairly short session since we both wanted to relax and enjoy a nice New Year's Day seafood dinner which was excellent by the way. We only played about 4 hours, but we both came out ahead with a little gas money for our efforts. I must admit for the first time in months and months, it just felt plain enjoyable playing. Too early to tell if all of 2015 will be like this or similar, but I sure hope so. The one little rub I had on my play which was all quarter 9/6 job is my 3 quads that hit were Aces quads twice and threes with an Ace. The Mrs caught Aces without a kicker on a DDB nickel Multi Streak game without a multiplier. Happy, healthy, and safe New Year to all........Olds.........

good job olds! When do you plan to be in or around Mohegan during the month of January? I am laid up with a couple health issues for the next two to three weeks (I am having a Kidney stone blasted....think of the old game "Asteroids"!) Also, I am being fitted for new hearing aids ("what?!?! Heh? Eh??? Say what?!?!) I will not be going to AC again until the end of January so I might try a day trip to Mohegan (maybe with an overnight stay at the nearby Hyatt or Holiday Inn since they offer casino room rates and service to and fro, plus a Buffet Breakfast.)

Should be there most Sunday evenings on overnight and part of Mondays. They have senior Mondays back again. Sometimes mid week too. Depends a lot on my folks and the weather this time of year. If you can make it, I can try and shoot up there since I am just over an hour's drive from home. Since I am not a gold member yet, ( I have no excuse either) just post something here and we can follow up. Sounds good though and good luck with the procedures. Save your buffet voucher if you get one. Breakfast is on me if we both make it up there. Their breakfast buffet is excellent and the bagels are good too. Don't forget soup man is up there too. I also got a reset for Jan on the choice credits, so the lounge will work too if interested. I want to introduce you to the concierge staff too like I did with Fla Phil. They are super and very friendly.

Back home again after a follow up semi marathon session. The good news at Mohegan is this session felt just like the first one for 2015. Played with the same 300 bucks all day and brought most if not all home. Lots of back and forth and ups and downs, but within reason. I started out on job again for several hours, but after getting 3s quads twice and aces quads twice, and a few long dud runs, I switched to airport deuces and stayed with it. I did finally catch deuces quads after about 7 hours, then nothing much after that. Total hands played in 12 hours about 7,000. No Royal of course nor do I expect anymore. . Had fun though, and had some delicious corn chowder in the lounge and to top things off, I had a new waitress from Poland. I am a brunette guy, but she was a blonde blue eyed beauty, with a great smile and very pleasant. She even made sure I had napkins with my drink which is rare these days. I guess she figured this old guy will probably need them. . Anyway, for now, it feels just like the old days again up there.

Easy to explain I been saying it for years January is a good time to go. I have never had a loosing January or September. Why who knows but I think its the same reason you see all the Quit Smoking and Loose Weight ads around New Years. So the casino pays out more winners in January to keep you coming back from that New Years Resolution you were trying to keep. Same goes for September because the Summer (squeeze the tourist) setting is turned off.

Very strange indeed. I just took a look at my W-2 Gs for 2014. By far, the largest total was late August through mid September. Only 1 in October and NONE!!!! since then. I also had a couple last Jan. If this game is completely random, you would never know it from these results that repeat year after year. Today is a double points day at Mohegan and tomorrow morning offers mystery free play for most seniors. I may shoot up there tonight and see what happens. I plan on taking it easy this year. As recently posted, a negative 50k year like last year means a lot of damage control this year.

good reports Olds......you actually helped me realize a few things about Mohegan, most important of which is I KEEP forgetting that my A.C. Resorts card (with all the activity and comps and stuff) is good at Mohegan!!! I dont know why I keep forgetting this......My first order of business is to find out WHAT the Mohegan sun will give me in terms of players card levels and benefits given my Resorts AC status........Also, since I get a weekly comp room offer from Resorts AC that is valid Sunday thru Friday for two nights each week....surely Mohegan will honor some or all of that......right?? I am calling their hosts tomorrow!Olds, I will pull a date together and let you know here, and then we can keep in touch via e-mail (and then hopefully via phone once we know exactly when we are talking about.)

Sounds good. I hope they honor your A/C credits. This midweek is not good on my end. Some heavy duty dental stuff and with the cold blast we are expecting, I have to stay close to home to keep an eye on things and the folks. After that hopefully OK.

Just back from my third outing this year and luckily, the machines all had that old time feeling still. Hit deuces quads with a bunch of quarters in, and 5 3s and a Wild Royal on the Double Down stud game. No real Royal, but I was very happy with the results even without it. Also, I checked in very late and they gave me a huge suite since all of the rooms were gone. I had no complaint with that, but most of the stay was on the gaming floor. Still the suite was beautiful and the view from the 29th floor super. I also had a red tail hawk floating right outside of my window. I hope that is good luck too. He seemed to look right at me and was in no hurry to fly away.
