Using 9/6 strategy while playing 9/5DDB

Post by pokerpokerpoker »

Hey gang. I am heading to Vegas in a few weeks. We will be staying at the Ti. Ti offers 9/6 DDB at the .50 and $1 level. I plan on bringing a few K with me, but if I run bad I will need to drop down to quarters or nickles - which will be 9/5 (at best).

Thanks to the Gold trainer and other resources, I have the 9/6 strategy down cold. What "penalty" would there be to the payback percentage by using the 9/6 strategy while playing a 9/5 game? I don't really care to go off strip or Downtown. Better yet, does anyone know a quick and dirty list of the strategy changes? Thanks!

If you use 9/6 DDB strategy exclusively, the penalty isn't very severe, only 0.0226%.

I wrote a summary of the major changes one makes from 9/6 JoB to 9/6 DDB and 8/5, 9/5 DDB.

The only major deviations, imo, from 9/6 DDB to 9/5, 8/5 DDB, for non-progressive games are:

High Pair > 3 to a Royal > 4 to a Flush ALWAYS.

If you make this sole adjustment to the 9/6 DDB strategy to 9/5 DDB, the remaining errors only cost 0.00455%.

That's close enough for me personally.

If you would like to be more anal than that, I would study up the 9/5 strategy:

Thanks Tring,

On the Wiz's site, are the basic strategy exceptions the penalty card situations? I want to play well, without going too crazy.

Your simple deviation from above sounds good enough for me.

Yes the exceptions listed below on that page are the penalty card situations. They are sort of cryptic to read though.

The 9/6 Jacks or Better and Double Double Bonus optimal strategy were not too difficulty to remember.

It seems once you get to 9/5 for both games, it becomes a lot more complicated to learn optimal strategy. 9/5 DDB is generally the most popular game I can find for quarters (only few places I know have 9/6 JoB and DDB for quarters).
