Cedar Point
Been out of town and happened to notice a sign for a casino about 10 miles off the highway I headed down, I was ready to start looking for a hotel so I checked the place out. No problem what so ever getting a room, so I showered and headed down to eat. After a very nice steak I headed to check out the vp selection, very surprised to see TDB at 99.58%, you can't find that anywhere around my area. I dove right in to playing $1 denomination and after about 20 minutes of play I started wondering if I was playing standard vp. The games were Gama King and carried the IGT logo but I still wasn't sure. I ask a couple if they were local players which they turned out to be so I ask them about the machines. They said they didn't recommend playing $1 denom because the machines would eat your lunch. Four of a kinds will be scarce as hens tooth and get ready to be blasted by 9's, no question about it they were right as rain. Despite the impressive pay tables these machines did seem to have some serious issues, I have never saw so many 9's in all my life of playing and so few quads, I actually started keeping a 9 if I had a low pair to extend my play, never seen anything like it.

Stories like this just seem to reinforce my thinking which may prove to be incorrect someday that vp machines can be adjusted outside of the paytables being changed. At least the steak was good. Where is Cedar point anyway? I find that locals are often a good source of information like the above. Last year while playing a 3 cent spin poker game up at Mohegan Sun, a nice Asian lady about my age sat down next to me and asked if she could watch my game for awhile. I said sure and she turned out to be very nice. At first I thought she was a little off when she suggested I keep a lone King on a regular deuces wild game. Other than that she didn't bother me at all. After seeing what I thought were too many kings coming up, I started holding the lone kings just as a lark. I was only playing 3 lines at 15 cents a line anyway. Sure enough in about an hour, I hit 5 kings several times. She said that she traveled by bus 365 and split her time in A/C and Ct. She doesn't play much, but evidently is quite observant of the goings on in the various casinos. Anyway, just another example like yours. By the way, that same spin ploker machine continues to deal lots of kings. It is the last 3 cent one left at Mohegan. They yanked out the rest.

A casino name and the state would be useful. When I think of "cedar point", I think of an amusement park, and a state with zero Indian casinos and the state mandates video poker just like Nevada does.
I would also be surprised you found 9/7 TDB in that state though.

Has to be the Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Ohio. My daughter worked at Cedar Point for two summers a long, long time ago.

No kidding I went dumb forgetting to even mention the state which was Ms., not sure about the town because I kid you not this place was in the middle of nowhere. I wouldn't have known the casino existed if not for the small sign on the highway. Now I was kind of thrown for a loop because I thought it said The Isle but when I walked in the place it had two casinos under one roof, one to the right which was tiny, can't remember the name but it seems like it was called Point something or other. I was shocked to see 9/7 TDB, in fact I have never seen it before. Not too many years ago there used to be all kinds of tiny casinos located in Ms. and most of them had terrible reputations, to the best of my knowledge almost all of them are gone now.

Well I've been playing vp for over 20 years now all over the place and I've seen things in certain places that have me convinced that not all vp is created equal. Now I know I might get attacked for saying it but some vp machines in some casinos do seem to have habits.

ko king, it is unlikely the difference in opinion as to whether VP machines have been changed/tampered with will be settled anytime soon. i have tried to become more knowledgeable and some of the math folks have been VERY GENEROUS, in providing numbers to support the idea, that simply lowering the advertised pay schedule, does indeed make a big difference. there is simply no dispute that reduced payouts for FH and flushes has a big impact on expected and actual results. like you, olds and others, i am not convinced that something else, may be at work here. i know expected results are different from actual results and there can be variance in the games. most of us play outside of nevada, so i question the level of regulatory oversight in all locales, there seems to be some confusion about whether VP and slot machines have similar rules in some locations and indian casinos, which many play at, who knows what is going on there. casinos are being allowed as a tax revenue source and my belief is that is what the states are most concerned about. they want that money and there is little incentive to kill the golden goose.

Well I saw no difference in any of the machines, they all looked and played the same way. The only places I have ever ran in to anything other than class III was in Oklahoma and South Carolina, from what I understand New Orleans had some different version of vp in some of the bars. I've been back to South Carolina and all the machines were gone. To be honest I didn't know casinos could mix in class III and class II, wouldn't I be able to tell right away if they were class II?
