Break-even trip on VP

Post by VP_vp »

Played nickels FPDW for about 2 hours, there was a promo (play $300 get $5-10 in free play), so I played through $300 (I think I was down a few bucks). Was waiting for their systems to catch up and record my play at their slot club, so I played some $5 single deck BJ, and was up $30. Played another 2 hours of FPDW and left of the night. Next day, also played for the promo and while waiting played some $3 craps and $5 paigow poker (up $10) and all in all ended up the exact amount that I got in free play on FPDW.

Summary:

FPDW - About 6 hours play, no 4 deuces or better hit, up $15 (which was the amount of free play I qualified for over the 2 days).
Table games - up $40

Too bad it costs way more than $55 for the trip, but better winning some at the casino, than losing.

Surprising that FPDW play qualified you for the bonus free play. All games have their swings, must play in the long run in hopes to pull even.

Yeah. Watch out for possibly getting no-mailed. The craps and pai-gow will help that though.

I don't go often enough (a few times a year at most) to even care about any mail.

The nickel FPDW doesn't qualify for any point multipliers, but I didn't see any active multipliers during the days I was there so didn't need to drop down to 99% machines. I think the point accrual rate is same as other VP machines, but I haven't tried anything else.

Reminder to hit the tables after losing in VP just to get my bankroll back. BJ is a pretty conservative table game, and so is craps on the low risk bets. Some days I simply cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel on VP.I must break even. Cannot countenance a loss day on a 99.54% game. Still negative EV, but barely.

Most table games have a house edge that is higher than the 99.54% game that you quoted. If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, you probably should just stop playing.

I think that if you're losing at VP, it doesn't always mean that table games will be better. You can also lose just as much, if not more at table games. A real decent harbor is BJ if you can count cards, or just leave the casino.

With a healthy buy in to hang in there, you can recoup the VP loss at the craps table. Again, wish I didn't have to resort to such drastic measures.
