Roadhouse Tunica

Post by spxChrome »

If you get a chance to go to Roadhouse tunica don't I don't go often since it is out of the way but I do have to go to Memphis at times and usually stay around the Roadhouse. My last 3 trips all bust.

They have the new style poker machines and according to my tier credits I played 3,600 hands the first night and got 0 quads. Before calling it a night I went to Goldstrike and the VP was not appealing there so I decided to put a couple of $100 into the slots and won $2k and called it a night.

2nd night I played at Roadhouse again 6,400 hands and got only 3 quads (7s, 8s and "dealt kings" and 1 SF.

So 10,000 hands 3 quads not so good results.

3rd night I was heading to VIP Bar and found 2 of the old style poker machines stuffed into a corner (wish I had found these earlier) Played for about 5 hours and came up a few hundred on these 2 machines. Never hit anything big but at least it was letting me play with FH and flushes and quad here an there. The newer machines I couldn't tell you how many 100s I played without anything higher than 3oak you just don't stand a chance against these things.

So if you ever head to Roadhouse don't but if you must look for these older machines right in front of the VIP Bar behind a big plant and 2 raggy old penning slots.

spx, i went to tunica last year. same experience, promised myself to never go there again. there is another poster here, who has lots of experience in tunica and has been telling about bad experiences for the last year or so. it is stories like you are telling, my own experience and hearing from others, that makes me sometimes wonder about what is happening with some machines, in some markets. anyone can hit a cold spell at anytime, but when you play as i do and move around a lot, and you do not see any winners, it makes me wonder, if every market is as honest as others. especially, when you are there for multiple days and fail to see things occur as you have seen in the past. i know i will get a lot of flak for even mentioning the possibilty. i just call em as i see em.

I have to agree on them new game kings. Our local casino just put in new bar top machines in.   I been playing  them the  past few weeks have played every one of them now and not a good hand to even remember. Its dead hand after dead hand. They have a smaller casino/bingo hall across the road. I have been cleaning them older machines out. Nothing big like SPX said, but them older machines let you play, some day we may have to give it up but as long as there is older machines to be played look for them if there. I wonder how the play is in Vegas on these new machines? Anyone?

I used to really like the Roadhouse, hit many a hand pay there on them old machines, they took every single old machine out and replaced them with brand new shiny machines. I played the fool out of them and only managed to hit 1 hand pay, those machines are tough. For years I played $2 denom TDB on those old machines and had some really good days but these new machines are way to intelligent for me. I play a lot of video poker at another casino not located in Tunica and they added a new wing that has the new style machines, they kept all the old machines in place, thank goodness because I can't hit squat on the new machines. I guess I'm into S&M or something because I keep playing that darn things and they continue to beat the brakes off of me.

You won't get any flack from me on those comments. You guys probably remember my record on Royals last year which is still continuing this year and no w-2gs since last October. I think I have them figured out and it is going to be extremely difficult to overcome the new rngs if they are ever rng anymore. Long, long, long, dud streaks hoping to run out your bankroll and or your time to play. Then let big stuff hit for 5 minutes or so every 8-12 hours. Most people are wiped out by then or if still playing have switched to lower denominations. The Phil method will cut losses, but not let you get ahead much if at all on the newer machines where I play.
This is what I have come up with. So far so good. Last couple of tripe even or slightly better, but a long grind. The jist of it is you have to find machines that allow bets of up to at least 25 units and you need a bigger bankroll than the old days. You also need a low variance game. I find this works the best on regular Deuces Wild. It is basically a toned down version of Martingale clone. Without the details, it involves upping your bet a unit for every 4-6 straight losses, but you must back down accordingly depending on what you hit or it will max you out. I haven't hit when my bets have gotten into the 15-25 quarter range on anything larger than a hit of 9 for 1 or so, but even that makes up for the losses at the smaller bets if you back it down. The are letting me hit things like Wild Royals, 5 of a kinds, and even deuces quads with 5 units bet and let you hit like crazy if you bet one. I play enough hours to know they are doing this no matter what others say. There is no substitute for playing millions of hands in a few years. I think some of the gang will agree. Most will not. The die hard math people will just attribute everything to bad luck or bad streaks. I can buy that short term, but not for the time periods and amount of play some of us generate.

g/f has hit Aces twice in Vegas on these things this year. I also hit Aces on twice on newer units of these in Tunica this year, but one was on JoB, so Aces don't really matter much there.

Her:
Venetian:

Cosmo:

Me:
Roadhouse:

Horseshoe:

I have no feeling which type of machines I do better at. I haven't had such a streak to notice the difference one way or the other.

wife and I stayed a night in Tunica over Christmas Break, on a road trip across America...we really enjoyed it (We stayed at Horseshoe, and played there and GoldStrike) Wife hit a quarter royal on the first $20 in, so that might skew...but our room was NICE! (Basic room too, I think?) and everyone was REALLY friendly.
I'd go back...if it wasn't 2000 miles away, lol.

I'll be in Tunica this upcoming weekend, May 23-May 25, and the offers I'm taking advantage of include: $125.00, comped room and 2 buffets from Hollywood; comped room at Roadhouse; $40.00 in free play plus a $100.00 comp to Twain's Steakhouse; and I'm picking up an NCL cruise certificate for 2 from Horseshoe.

Even if I don't gamble a dime I'm coming out ahead.

Edited to add:the $40.00 in free play and $100.00 comp to Twain's Steakhouse are courtesy of Sam's Town. I haven't decided yet if I'm rooming at Roadhouse or Hollywood but I need to decide by Friday or else incur a cancellation charge.

I may be crazy, but I think the newer machines are bunching up the quads.  They seem to go forever with dead hand after dead hand, then once in a great while (days maybe) they catch back up.  The old machines seem to me to be a lot less volatile.  If you think about this, it busts more players which benefits the casino.  What do you think?

I think I agree with your first four words.
