Bad Mistake
I sat down to play and only glanced to make sure it was double double bonus poker. I wish I had taken a better look. I was playing double bonus poker and was dealt four aces. I ended up hitting kickers on four of the five! I thought this is under paying then realized my mistake. I will do better next time checking!

It happens to the best of us, next time juist be sure to verify you're playing the game you want to play.

Agreed with Ted.
I had this happen to myself once, but I found out the less painful way.
I was not aware until I hit a straight and got paid 25 credits. I was like what kind of game pays 25 for a straight, I looked at the paytable and it turned out I was playing 9/6/5 DB (97.81%) instead of 9/6 DDB.
If you were playing 9/7 DB, it would have been better than 9/6 DDB, but would require a big strategy change in approach.

I truly promise everyone that I will make sure that I get it right next time I play. The good news is it still made me some money.

There is no need to beat yourself over it, Ted is right, most of us as humans will make certain mistakes time to time while playing video poker, some have shared their story on this forum.
This topic does correlate to this week's Dancer LVA article that I read every Tuesday.

It is one of many that shows how meticulous Mr. Dancer is when playing video poker, to a benefit.

I sat down to what I thought was JOB on Sat, at my usual machine. Little did I know that the huge signage above the screen changes every time somebody plays a different game. It was actually DW. I hit a flush and somehow managed to get back to JOB. Eternal vigilance. The next day, I was carelessly wiping the Trop screen clean after a full house and activated the double up button along the bottom. Needless to say, I lost.

I think we all have inadvertently played the wrong game. Not looking at the screen right after a DDB only bank was changed to multi-game, I wound up having to play a regular slot game. Somehow, I came out ahead on the one hand and switched to DDB. The same thing happened another time and I wound up playing a hand of DW rather than DDB. No damage and I switched over once I noticed my mistake.
