Hyper RNG's

Post by ko king »

I remember discussing this subject a while back on this site. I'm not sure who first introduced the possibility of a new type of RNG and it doesn't really matter (could have been me, not sure). I'm bringing this up again because I was playing and a woman who was playing close to me ask me if I was hitting anything at all. I told her I had been playing at the bar and finally gave up on the bar tops because I hadn't hit even a simple quad and I had just moved to try my luck elsewhere. She said her and her husband had been playing for a couple of hours and neither had hit a quad either. I glanced over to see what she was playing and noticed she was playing the same game as me $1 DDB at max bet. I ask if that's all she played and she said that was all her husband and herself ever played. A few minutes later the husband walks up and joins the conversation telling her that he couldn't stand it anymore and he was ready to quit. The woman still had a few credits left but we had all quit playing to talk about "the good old days", when we used to have better sessions. We were all in agreement that something does seem to have changed then the husband mentions "hyper RNG's". Now this threw me for a loop so I ask if they were members of this site, turns out neither of them were but they had read something somewhere talking about "hyper RNG's", neither could remember where. The guy kept talking all the dead hands and how bad video poker was now and how expensive playing had gotten to be, all subjects I've seen brought up on this site. Finally we all finished complaining about the game and she went back to playing her last 30 credits before they left. A couple of hands later I'm dealt four to the royal and end up turning the card I needed for a royal. They looked over and said congrats and left the casino, hitting that royal kind of made our conversation look silly. None the less I surprised to hear someone else bring up "hyper RNG's". I played another hour or two and quit for the night myself. While I did hit the royal, I had just ended another session without a single quad, happens fairly often to me now days.

Hey ko king, this was discussed in the Topic: Old Video Poker Machines.    My theory is that the newer VP machines have much faster processors and shuffle the cards faster.

Royals appear to be the only thing immune. Its the constant dead heads and lack of premium hands outside the royal that I have noticed.

I'm okay with a quadless session without a royal in it!

Generally speaking though koking, how many hands is an average session for you now? I often have quadless sessions, but based on the number of hands I will play in an evening, it's not terribly unlikely to happen.

My biggest drought now is definitely a Royal.

This is my quad/SF profile after the 7 quads I picked up in Tunica after 3 days last weekend (probably a bit above average). No royals on this phone bought in Oct. 2013.

Quad profile is definitely within "randomness" though...

A: 16
2: 22
3: 18
4: 16

6: 10
7: 19
8: 16

J: 19
Q: 23
K: 18

Total: 215
Straight Flushes: 7

Wtg...kk, congrats. I am still getting no quads per session for the most part or all of them bunched together in a few minutes except for my session yesterday. You can read that post if you want and you will see what I mean. . Great comeback though.
