Don't mess with seniors
This little story has nothing to do with a similar joke circulating the net. This is just my story. Yesterday morning I was in a rush to get things done and only had time to stop for coffee/and at McDonald's. I actually do like their coffee however. I knew the sausage biscuit was on the dollar menu, but I really didn't need the sausage. I also had recently bought coffee any size for a dollar which was a recent promotion. The manager at this particular location has no personality at all. He happened to be on the counter. I ordered a plain biscuit and large coffee. The manager rang up 1.39 for just the biscuit and 1.29 for the coffee. When I asked him why he just said that is what the computer says and refused to listen me further. I fixed them though. I had the manager void the order and instead ring up a sausage biscuit and wrap up the sausage on the side. That did ring up correctly at a dollar. I then ordered a senior coffee for .89 but brought it back for a free refill. There was a hungry little kitty outside that gobbled up the sausage in short order. On my way out, I noticed a beat up car coming in and the family appeared to be poor. I had a bunch of coupons that I hadn't used and gave them to the father. I also said if possible, go to the manager who is on the counter and place your order. If he won't let you use all of the coupons at once, you can ring up separate orders for each person and they will take the coupons. They were real happy and ordered just as I had suggested. I also hung around with my free coffee refill to make sure everything went smoothly on the order since the father spoke very broken English. Everyone was happy at the end except the manager. I think the kitty was the happiest though.

Thanks gang. Sometimes hard to deal with the elderly especially when you are elderly yourself. Have live in help at the folks' house luckily. The guy upstairs keeps me going and vp though not profitable, gives me a little break. Speaking of soul, don't hear much Mowtown on the radio anymore.

nice story olds, very well told too.I am glad the family was able to eat, and I am always happy to see other people taking care of those less fortunate and in a bad spot economically and socially. I have been the recipient of some good will too, even though I do not need it, when people see me and assume I must need "help" by the fact I am sitting on four wheels instead of standing on two feet. I graciously accept any and all "help", so as not to make any awkwardness even more awkward and also to allow the helper to feel good about their deed. But what I typically do next is I turn around and "pass it on" especially if someone gives me money (happens more often than you'd think!) I mean, sometimes people just come up to me and force money into my hands, before I can even utter a single word!! lol'I really liked the part about the kitty cat, although if it was a young kitten that sausage might have been too much for it (if it is usually the same quality and level of grease that I see at the Mcdonalds I have frequented, although it has been at least a year since I myself orderd a suasage-mc-anything) still, the poor kitty must have it rough too so kudos. I used to have a tomcat living in my yard in Connecticut who I would bring home extra Mcdonalds creamers for the coffer and open them one by one and let the cat enjoy.....and he really did enjoy those creamers! if you go to that mcdonalds again and see that kitty, get it a few creamers and see what happens!

Hi Notes, DB, and gang. The Kitty was over 6 months old so I think it will tolerate the sausage OK. I will have to try the creamers though another time. We lost both of our cats last year due to old age, but they were former Shelter cats and gave us many years of enjoyment. With everything going on with the folks now, we are not ready yet for more, but usually they find us. Last year another homeless kitten showed up at our door and was the most friendly little thing we have ever seen. That was before we lots ours, so I took her to the vet for the works and found a really good home for her. The Vet costs with our discount were no more than I would have lost in a typical vp session, so how could I say no. We have actually stayed in touch with the retiree who adopted and have visited " Cloe " twice. We also share the same Vet.
Speaking of Tomcats, about 15 years ago, we had one that showed just to be fed. He was huge and well battle scarred. Unfortunately, he thought our property was all his and chased the mailman snarling and growling all the way. Well, even our poor mailman who we had over 29 years couldn't believe it, so I was able to find a local farmer who had a barn full of mice. " Butchy " found a home there. It took a while to coax him into the oversize carrier, but a nice hunk of grilled chicken finally did the trick. Some people think I am a little rough around the edges including the Mrs., but I'm still not too old to forget to hold a door open for the ladies either in the car or a building. At least I retained some of what mom taught me. I think this generation doesn't do that anymore. One of the yungins can correct me if I am wrong. I just don't see it much anymore.

One of the most pleasant threads I've seen in awhile. Speaking of cats, we rescued 4 kittens that were either abandoned by their mom or orphaned. They were so young, the wife originally had to bottle feed them. They now are full grown and think the house belongs to them.
BTW, you can find some Motown cuts on Sirius XM satellite radio.

we have had 4 legged housemates for 37 years, always two at time, so they always have someone to play with. all our dogs were rescued from some place and they become such a big part of your life. and, they are nicer than most people, including myself. instead of being rough around the edges, maybe you would rather direct your generosity and concern toward the truely helpless. at least, that is how i feel. i have a hard time when some folks demand a handout, instead of those who really cannot help themselves.

When I've mentioned some of my past charitable endeavors someone on this site has said that he didn't believe me. I turned the other cheek and it got slapped too.
