Worst malfunction story
We have all had the dreaded malfunction happen to us in some way shape or form.....and the machines we play all display that cryptic warning "Malfunction Voids all play"What is the WORST (or most outrageous) experience you have had with a machine malfunctioning or otherwise causing you technical difficulties that resulted in problems or inconvenience? With the deplorable state & condition of some machines in some casinos, and with certain casinos cutting wayyyy back on maintenance and repair, this may be happening a lot these days......In 2011 I had a VP machine "lock up" on me in the old defunct AC CLUB......I had about 290 bucks in it, and when the tech showed up to reboot the machine and get my money, the machine would NOT reboot properly......so in order to get my money I had to wait while the tech and a slot manager verified my total via some other information route (they were not on servers obviously, but I guess via my players card they accessed the info from the machine before it conked out and got my money for me....total elapsed time, about 45 minutes, but I was lead all around the casino following them from place to place, and all the while could not do anything else. very annoying)I never actually had a hand result, or jackpot, voided though.......I cannot imagine how depressing that would be!!!

i do not like sticky buttons or poor lighting on machines anymore than anyone else. i agree some casinos do seem to pay less attention to upkeep as they should, but i give them a little leeway for machines on the bar. some people are just pigs. but, i have never seen or heard anyone denied a payout for a malfunction, other than the obvious extreme cases, where someone bets thirty cents and the machine screws up and says the won $30 million. the front of most machines list max payout. my most recent experience was a long delay over a machine breakdown. i simply played some other machines nearby and told them to track me down, when the problem was solved. took them about 30 minutes, at which time, they also gave me a coupon for a free buffet. mechanical stuff breaks down, nothing lasts as it used to, and with all the micro computer stuff inside a machine and the way some folks pound on them, no surprise it happens. just read this week, that some guy playing in PA, got arrested inside a casino. he was caught urinating in the coin receptor on a machine. like i said, some people are pigs.

Not the worst but an interesting one. Sweet C was playing a 5/10 coin VP machine. She accidentally hit max play several hands and then caught a Royal for $8K. She waited and waited for someone to show up to pay her for the RF. After about 10 minutes she sent another player to get me. I came and we alerted the casino slot attendant. When they arrived they stated the machine was somehow communicating back to the central location the $800 instead of $8. She was promptly paid for the RF and then the machine was taken off-line to check the communications problem.

My worst malfunction happens in my dreams. In my dream I switch to max coin $5 and am dealt a quad deuce for 5K. I hold the deuces and the machine doesn't register one of them and I get a three of a kind. What a nightmare! I don't know why I don't dream I hit a royal for $20K, but it's probably too far from reality for my brain to handle.

I have never experienced any issues or malfunctions. I'm glad that Sweet C got rightfully paid off and if Phil is dreaming like that; why can't he dream that he's playing a $100.00 denomination machine?

i have never seen or heard anyone denied a payout for a malfunction,
I posted this awhile ago. Late one night at a local casino I was dealt 4 to a straight flush (Q,J.10,9 of hearts). I held all four cards based on perfect strategy only to have one button pop up when I pressed deal. Naturally the first card up was the K of hearts which would have paid $62.50. Called the techs and they verified my original hand. However, they called a floor manager who basically told me I must of not held the card and tough luck. This happened a number of years ago and except for one evening when some friends stayed at the attached hotel, we haven't been back.

you are correct, i have had this happen also, press a hold button and it did not work. i guess i was thinking of a malfunction as something different, like hitting a 4 of a kind and it not registering or being denied a payout ticket. if the discussion was to include 'sticky buttons', my mistake. while a sticky/malfunction of a button is a problem with the machine, it happens enough, that i typically blame myself, for playing too fast or not making sure the button did work as i wanted. when i come to a machine where the buttons do not work properly, i choose to press the screen.

I have had the dreaded button not hold happen to me 4 times. All with holding 3 Aces and have been paid $800 2x, $2000 one time and told tuff luck for $800 once which was at the Grand in Biloxi. They even verified the machine had a bad button (I didn't know I had just got on the machine and it was like the 3rd hand), looked at the history. Told me I should be more careful. After I told him how much I had lost he went to go look at my play. Came back and verified I was down about $1400 and said the best he could do was to give me $75 is free play. I chuckled cashed out my ticket and left.
But the best/worst story happened to a stranger sitting 2 machines down from me one time. He got dealt AWAK for $2000. He kind of yelled and turned to me and said "I just got deal 4 Aces with the Kicker can you believe that?" I looked and said "way to go" and as he turned around he hit deal button without holding any of them throwing everything away for a new hand. He did not make a peep and kept playing (I think we were both in shock). He cashed out 2 minutes later and left.

Ugh that last story is particularly brutal. And he should have attempted to say something. As you have seen, sometimes casinos will still give it to you if it is dealt since it's in game recall. But you have let this happen 4 times to yourself with Aces alone??? I always take my time on ANY dealt quad. It's not a hand to be on auto-pilot with, imo...
