Are you kidding.......?
These were almost the exact words that came out of my mouth last night, with one of the F'n words omitted. I went to Green Valley Ranch, playing DDB .25 single hand. Five minutes in I was dealt 2 aces. So I thought I held both, I know I pressed the button, but only held 1 ace. Drew a three followed by ace and another ace. Paid for 3 of a kind, should have caught aces with kicker. I was gonna be sick. I figure if I ask to be paid they would more than likely tell me to pound sand, but I had to ask. Supervisor came out reviewed play, said give me a few minutes. Fifteen minutes later I was shocked. They hand paid me 496.25 since the 3 of kind had already paid 3.75. Wow, that went from ugly to awesome. needless to say, the rest of the night I was very careful on making sure my holds were held, but again I was impressed that they would make it right.

That is very impressive. I thought there was some blanket disclaimer, like "machine malfunction waives all play" or something like that. You dodged a bullet.

Thanks for reply FAA. I did not expect to be paid. Just as you mentioned, I agree with your statement. I mentioned to the super that I play here regularly. He commented to me "I know. we reviewed your play here and at Fiesta." He also commented "We reviewed the video and saw that you did attempt to hold the card." I believe that if I wasn't such a frequent player there that they would not have done a thing. I agree with you totally - I did dodge a bullet.

Very generous of them. I'm a bit surprised myself. Because the malfunction itself could have slightly changed timing to give you the other two aces in the first place. Also if somehow they would have paid you AWAK for any other card order (i.e. the brick card didn't come last) then you would have gained a big advantage here!
They did the right thing by paying you after they saw you made a good faith attempt to hold the card. For a regular player, it's better for the casino to pay off here. I would be inclined to do the same as a one-time thing only!
Also a good reminder for anyone this ever happens to, it doesn't hurt to ask!!!

The blanket statement is definitely there, but that's mainly a last resort policy for a well-run casino.

I agree with others, much appreciated for sharing this story for us to remind that it never hurts to ask. I highly doubt most casinos will show such generosity to the player as Vman stated.
I remember olds mentioning that the game king machines can pull up a history of past hands, the deal along with the holds.

First off, awesome story and congrats to the original poster for achieving this "victory" for video poker players everywhere........such stories give the rest of us heart and inspiration in the face of overwhelming and long odds.....Kudos to the Green Valley ranch as well......I cannot say very much on this casino as I do not think I have ever played there except maybe once or twice in my life.......I would be interested to know if this is standard practice/policy for the casino, OR if this was simply a enlightened and kind hearted manager the original poster was lucky enough to meet?!?!?!I daresay I do not know of any casino floor executive I have ever met who would have done this for me or anyone I know, UNLESS it could be absolutely shown the missing ace was the result of faulty machine button(s)......I agree with others, much appreciated for sharing this story for us to remind that it never hurts to ask. I remember olds mentioning that the game king machines can pull up a history of past hands, the deal along with the holds.I have mentioned this several times over the last several years......Today's Video Poker machines (Non server based) have, within each machine's "GUTS", memory storage for play/hand results that can go back many many months.......as to what the EXACT gaming regulations stipulate for each gaming region/market/locale, requiring the storage and accessing of history of past results I cannot say exactly; but I do know that in the case of Atlantic city, I have looked at results (or summaries of results, or simply the "highlights", such as the LAST ROYAL hit on a machine, or the total number of QUads during a specified time period) for an individual machine! I've done it at the Tropicana , the showboat when it was still alive, Ballys, and most recently the Golden Nugget......Obviously on server based systems, this "issue" of accessing past hands and played history is not even an....."ISSUE", since the very nature of such a system lends itself to accumulating oodles of data and history! What I am certain most players are unaware of, or reluctant to do, is to actually REQUEST such info for a machine, and not be put off by casino staff who may or may not attempt to dissuade or discourage a player from requesting such info.....again, each gaming regions authorities and rules/regs has its own stipulation as to what a player can or cannot request and receive vis-a-vis a machines past hand results.

I had an especially brutal JOB session. But the slot attendant lady who answered my call was one contentious, argumentative person. Bad luck drawing her too. Can you paraphrase your request? I'm looking for pointers, in case the need arises again.

I am very happy to hear the outcome of your story; all I can say is wow!! I do wonder, however, if they would have been as accommodating if the jackpot would have been a much higher payout. Hmmmm

If he was on a flyer gambling way higher than normal, I would be doubting it more. They said they also looked at his play history. He plays there a good amount at these stakes. Keep him happy in this spot, and they will theoretically get it back, eventually. Well, maybe not on the 10/6 DDB (100.07%) units...
After one horrific run for me at Tunica Roadhouse ($200 loss), I was able to snag a comp (a free night) that I really didn't deserve from my theoretical expectation (literally less than a dollar). But the future play and hotel sales they got from me and my g/f has made that goodwill gesture very well worth it for them.

It was a 10/6 machine. I think my players card level, which is chairman, had a lot to do with their decision. Chairman card requires 300,000 points in a 6 month period.
