Every Girl Remembers Her First!
Well, I'm back to being Gold - for at least a year!! Went to Empire with my sister in NY this past weekend for my nephew's graduation. Now, I'm normally a nickel gal, but my sister plays dollars, and I wanted to hang out with her. So, after securing a temporary loan from her, I'm doing nothing, nothing nothing. She says "move to that machine, I got a RF on it"...then I got THIS...(unfortunately Empire only does DDB and not TDB)After the ticket spit out (they pay at the window) - she said - go over and sit at this other machine, and got THAT....MY FIRST W2G FOR VIDEO POKER! The previous was for $1350 for Diamond Lotto at the Hard Rock! Looking forward to my LV trip with Fuzzball and see if we can get one together!!

Nice hits!
But hate to be a downer, but those machines aren't real video poker. If your sister typically plays dollars there, she would be much better off driving to AC/Mohegan/Foxwoods to play. If that game pays more than 92% longterm, I'd be surprised.

Congrats on the two nice jackpots! I have never seen the game you are playing. Can you explain the match card?

The match card is basically if you match the last # you get additional $s.

It's a gimmick to make sure your predetermined win is maintained. This is because "Vegas Style" VP is illegal in New York state-run racinos.
For example, lets say a player was supposed to win 2000 credits via Aces w/kicker like luvs did, but instead of just holding AA, they held 66AA instead with the Ace of hearts being the last card rendering quads impossible in a standard game. The machine then decides to award two pair for 5 credits, but the "match card" will appear as the Ace of hearts, and award 1995 credits for matching the "match card" to ensure that a 2000-credit win was awarded regardless of how the hand was played.
It's basically a glorified slot machine and total BS in my opinion as they often display attractive paytables like 9/6 DDB with a 5000 credit royal and help prey on the uninformed.

vman, on a different thread i mentioned that we travel to western ny to see friends often and within that area are 4 casinos. two run by the indians and two state run racinos. i also mentioned that many residents who play are not aware of the differences, some actually get a litttle mad when you tell them, they are playing a machine which is the same as bingo. they do not understand the difference between class 2 and 3 machines. while i cannot get into the head of each player, i don't think they are upset by the reduced odds, but more that their trust/belief has been violated. no one likes to learn they have been mislead or believe they have been.
