Suggestion to players for longer sessions

Post by cddenver »

Some years ago I was having hand/wrist problems and switched from a standard mouse to a trackball.  It's really helped me out, and if you're a player who's been putting in a lot of hours here and getting "achy hand" you might think about it.

Now what we really need is VR support, so we can get the full casino experience.  Cute cocktail waitresses (or waiters, depending on preference), slot techs, drunks, panhandlers, etc.  I'm a smoker, but for the nonsmokers there could also be heavy smokers on either side.  A pipe smoker on one side, and cigar smoker on the other.

I tried one of them fancy trackballs and it about drove me crazy. I know it just takes some getting used to but I felt both physically and mentaly disabled trying to move the mouse around. It wouldn't go where I wanted!  Now I know how my grandparents felt when they first tried out a computer.

I do have "achy hand" sometimes after putting in a long day, such as when we are developing new features or when Fa La La La La.... La la la la decides to drop by the forum. I might have to give it a try again some day.

I like using the keyboard, myself. I wish that VPW had incorporated the option to use c,v,b,n,m like you can here. Only 1,2,3,4,5 on VPW.

As far as the mouse goes, get a laptop and kiss that pain in the a** goodbye.

WM, I had the same problem at first.  Cursor just wouldn't go where I wanted it to.  Then I discovered that if I picked the trackball up, turned it 180 degrees, and set it down again it worked a lot better......more comfortable, as well...it really has helped my hand/wrist, though.

As for the other problem you mentioned that was giving you "achy hand", I think you should take the advice Shadowman gave on another thread - make Oej the Rob-Moderator (Roberator?).

Ain't nothing to it. Honesty will always kick the s_ _ t out of a con guy creepo type. (gulp gulp).
I think he is lurking in right now as I speak.
