Something totally different

Post by roveer »

So my wife wanted to go to AC on Friday because I had 2 125 dollar food comps (Friday & Saturday), and about 300 in FP and a crapgadget giveaway on Saturday. I was reluctant to go after my recent win. We went down on Friday night and had dinner at Martaranos at Harrah's AC. Kind of a crazy place, loud, crazy, but we had a good time. I decided NOT to play at all on Friday night which is a huge thing for me. Instead we did other things. The camera promotion wasn't until 6pm on Saturday so once again, I wondered how I was going to avoid playing, so I decided to drag my wife over the the boardwalk to sight see. Hot, but lots of fun. Saw parts of AC I've never seen before. Was lots of fun.

So finally, at 5:00 I sat down with 800 bucks (500 Cash, 300 FP) and played. Was down to 280 when I decided to switch to quarters. Hit this little gem and got up and ran away. Took home another thousand. Not at all bad for a non-gambling weekend. Ended up spending 30 bucks total of real money for the weekend. New strategy seems to be working.

Amazing $1300 hit! Fifteen bucks a pop to play, but what a windfall. Just what is the new strategy? Sounds like a Procrastination Strategy. Can't argue w results.

The fact that you ran away and didn't give it back was what made it so great.  Procrastination - Hit - Leave.  Now that's a great strategy.   Congratulations!

I love how you waited until the eleventh hour to sit down at a machine. You could have tried to sell the crappy gadget in the parking lot. With your luck, you would have had a sale!

At Harrah's you never get the crap gadget right away. 8-10 weeks and it arrives in the mail.

Considering that I really didn't want to play and possibly give up some of my prior visit winnings I consider this a great victory. Even more of a victory is the fact that I did wait until it was time to go to do my gambling, and I was fortunate enough to get this hit in less than 60 minutes and get out of town. As far as I'm concerned, wash, rinse, repeat...

You are correct. You can never count on a repeat. I often found that I was good for 1 hand pay but I used to pour it back in hoping for more. Now if I just take the first bit of good fortune and run away I see myself chipping away slowly. The discipline will be to leave when nothing happens at only a small loss.

I have no immediate plans to return and will go back sometime in the future and see what happens.

your recent good fortune reminds me that normally the difference between a good session and a bad session, is just 1-3 premium hands. now that you have a bankroll to play with, maybe a more limited time playing or smaller bets? just a suggestion.

Ahh, but I don't have a bankroll. I've decided to not count my winnings towards future visits. That way, each time I go, it's hard earned money not to be taken lightly. Seems to give me a more level headed approach.
