Everyone is a Winner!
I played in a golf scramble yesterday afternoon and afterwards there was a dinner. The subject of gambling came up and there were several people who played VP and others who played other games. One thing I noticed that everyone had in common was that everyone was a winner except for a couple of guys who said they broke even. Seems very odd to me that no one is a loser, I have no idea how casinos stay in business giving all that money away. I know this is not the case and talking about losing is not much fun but there is no way that out of the 20 that were running thier mouths they all come out winners. I have been gambling for over ten years and the first seven years were losing years but the last 3 I have managed to make a little money playing almost nothing but VP. Just wanted to throw this out there and see where everyone on this site stands as far as winning and losing goes.
I watched a lady drop over $35,000 playing $25 DDB VP at max play just recently.

I can think of two reasons for that, right off the bat. First, most of the players I know personally don't keep session-by-session records of their wins and losses. Not having records, they honestly believe that their winning days offset their losing ones, which may or not be the case. Second, few regular players who KNOW they're losing over time will admit it during a discussion with other players - because they don't want to be the only losers in a group of winners!

I'd guess these people focus only on the wins they have had and really don't keep track of all their losses. Not everyone keeps good records.

This was at the golf scramble dinner. You should have heard everyone at the Denny's dinner! They couldn't stop complaining about the cold machines.

Yes she did hit 1 quad while I watched but while she was waiting to get paid she just moved to the next machine and played. I've seen her there more than once and I like to watch her play. I did see her hit a royal not to long ago $100K which did get a lot of attention. That was the biggest hit I have ever seen in person playing VP. It should be noted that when I say I watched her play I find a place where I can see but not bother her. I know how I feel when people come up behind me while I'm playing and pester me.

I'm sure most of them do and I've also noticed its always a Harley never a Yamaha or Honda. I will admit that if I ever win stacks of cash while I happen to be riding my motorcycle it will be a 2003 Yamaha 1100 Classic.

I have Golf Cart with a basket for the winnings.
Pokerguy, I guess folks just can't be honest about losing. (Fudge the hell out of their handicap, too. Then they get in a tournament and cry all day about the the fact that they play better than what they are.) I make no secret about going to AC to visit my money. I also have a large stake in the new addition at Casino Windsor. Since taking up VP I believe that my losing sessions have been greater than when I only played slots. Might only be a short memory.

Truth time--this year I am $1,000 poorer than my wins. I hope to hit a 25 cent royal so I can get back even. I have yet to come out in the plus for a complete year. I am doing much better playing video poker or blackjack. If I play slots I will end up a loser nearly every time as I keep trying for that bigger jackpot.
Now saying that I have lost each year is not quite true due to the comps offered over the years as well. Airfare to Reno, rooms, meals, and shows all add up to be a nice help at getting closer to even. Had one year that losses were $60. So it is getting better but again it is due to playing video poker or blackjack now.
