Good Beers and Good Timing at River City!
We thought about going to River City Casino Saturday night...but that fell through thanks to mutual lack of motivation to drive the 45 minutes there.
But once that was decided...I wanted to go even more. So we went yesterday.
Had a classic standby at their "Beerhouse". Great value in the past. And still good even though they shaved 5 oz. off it since the last time I visited.
A North Coast Old Rasputin (9%; 4 sips)
I asked a bartender who I hadn't seen in about 18 months, but I would order this maybe 5 times in the 2 years before that, but he often poured it for me. I asked him if he remembered me. He asked me the first initial of my name to be sure...yep, he got it!
To follow up, a beer I probably wouldn't buy at home due to availability/cost. Founders Red's Rye IPA (6.6%; 4.25 sips). Most Founder's stuff is pretty solid, imo.
Then get on the floor, and the selection weakens. The only IPA they have is New Belgium Ranger IPA (6.5%; 3.75 sips). The big benefit is they have fair bartops for nickels at Judy's Velvet Lounge since you have to pay for the beer anyway! Top nickel game is 6/5 Super Aces (97.78%), but no Aces for me today.
But while I was at Judy's, I got a call from my g/f. I assumed it was a call about leaving soon. Fortunately not. It was about this hit!
That perked me up!
She didn't do badly for all her other play either with some good slot hits, she won about $220 altogether! I didn't do too badly, I was down about $16. Also saw a couple of handpays in the casino. One was for about $1500 on a 10c 5-play Ultimate X. Dealt 3s with a good amount of multipliers. Hit 2 of 5 kickers.
After getting home I had one of my favorite fall beers. Excellent for a pumpkin style. Schafly Pumpkin Ale (8%; 4.25 sips)
This makes two Royals this year for my g/f! Both in Missouri. But none of my five Royals have been hit in Missouri...

The first beer looks quite fancy, and congrats to your significant other on that hit! Good way to celebrate it with some beer!

Yeah, it's also on a Nitro tap, so that makes it look even better! But yeah, it was a nice pour. Those glasses are a pain to pour in though. She had to give it a couple minute break while pouring. And yeah, it's fairly fancy. It's about $9 for a 4 pack in a store.

Both the BEER and RF's look mighty tasty - except for the pumpkin...LOL. I'm old school believing it should be in pie not coffee or beer.

A North Coast Old Rasputin (9%; 4 sips)
This picture is evil. Just had to try this beer.
Found it at Festival Foods, a Wisconsin grocery chain.
Four pack of 12 oz. bottles for $8.91.
Sampled it as my dessert a couple of hours after our turkey dinner while everyone else was stuffing their faces with pumpkin pie and blueberry cheesecake.
Really delicious stout but that 9% ac requires moderation. Looking forward to having another this evening.
