Merry Ace-mas

Post by MCPoker »

I went to pick up the daughter at college and planned to make a 90 minute stop at a local casino. I found a decent double bonus machine and went to work. 85 minutes into the session (5 minutes before I had to leave), I finally hit four of a kind. What is truly amazing is it was my one and only four of a kind. It happened to be aces!! It was definitely a Merry Ace-mas!

Again, Merry Christmas to all!! And a Happy New Year. May the Royals be ever present this year!

Good stuff MCPoker!

I do not see many people play the full pay 9/7 Double Bonus here or at the casinos. So it is nice to see for once. The variance is lower than its popular sibling Double Double Bonus and a bit higher return as well.

Harder strategy to master though, but kudos to you.

You are correct. I'm constantly looking at my cheat sheet. It is not easy to play but again, if I go slower, I don't make mistakes.

And a very Merry Christmas to you too MCP, how long before you told your daughter?

I never told my daughter. I don't want her to think that it's as easy as slamming a quarter into a machine and viola, out pops 8k. It takes knowledge, concentration and perseverance.

Call me stupid, but I did tell my wife!

Congratulations! Love the photo. Consecutive aces look much better too.

There is no race going on unless there is a limited time promotion and you are running out of time, so I also play slow and carefully double check if it is the best play or if the hold button is messed up before I draw new cards when I wager real cash. Obviously it is not hard to figure out holding the three aces.

Hopefully the cheat sheet was on paper which will be ok by law, it is illegal to use a phone (the interprets that as an electronic device) to help find out the best holds.   Not sure if you eventually got yourself a VP training software, even if it is not Video Poker for Winners. I have VPW and VP Pocket (to practice outside of home) from Action Gaming (the people that run this website).

Definitely at those big stakes, some mistakes can cost a dollar or more. It is essential to play correct as possible however it takes!
