Royalless Streak Round Three
I really hate to open this topic again, but based on the circumstances, I really think I need to bring it up. Most know from my prior posts, that I have had 2 Royalless streaks of over 500k hands in the last couple of years. Unfortunately, the streak is off and running again. All of these results are from just one casino, Mohegan Sun. The last one on a single line game I had was in early January. The last couple of sessions I have been playing 3 or 5 line spin poker mainly because I found a couple of machines with a good paytable on Bonus Deuces Wild which is my favorite game. The 98.91 machines at Mohegan Sun from what I have found only offer regular Deuces Wild and only on single line to get that paytable.
I posted the other day about how I was now up to 271k hands without a Royal. I had another marathon Sunday night and part of today, and unfortunately, the trend continues. The play pattern is about the same. I play either 3 or 5 lines. Some on quarter play and some on dollar. This time the average was 2400 hands per hour for a total on 11 hours. Don't worry. I did take my breaks in between and even got a little sleep. So this time we will have to add another 24,600 hands to the total. I will even round it down to 24,000 hands to make my new new Royalless streak total 295,000 hands.
Luckily, the session ended up about even with a very small loss of under fifty bucks. I did catch quad deuces Sunday night on 3 lines and once on the center line only this morning on the dollar machine. That would make them hitting about every 6k hands which is a little off, but within reason. The Royal situation though is starting to bother me and my wallet big time though. Not that it matters, but there were no Royals hit by anyone within my earshot either last night or this morning. I also did catch my share of wild Royals and a couple of times, they were dealt so I caught them on either 3 or 5 lines. I had a total of 6 chances at a Royal where I just needed the one card. What I thought was odd is that every time it was in spades. I also noticed the card I needed appeared somewhere in the next dealt hand all six times. I thought that was a little weird too. Edited to add this one item. These All Star machines do pay 800 for 1 for the Royal for just one coin bet on the spin poker option only. That is why I play them. I could never afford the dollar machines otherwise. I am curious if anyone out there who plays All Star machines on the spin poker option also gets the 800 for 1 paytable for just 1 coin bet. That is one thing I can't argue about. The paytable where I play is 25/20/13/4/3/3/1/1 making it a 98.8% game. I forgot to add that I hit 5 Aces a number of times and that pays 80 for 1. The 25 number above is for the wild royal.

Your time will come. There have been times when I went a few years between royals, then caught multiple royals in a short period of time. All you have to do is play single coin quarters and the royals will pour in like clockwork, just kidding.....

Previously, I believe you have referred to "no royals on single line or on the deal line"
If that recollection is right, what, exactly, do you mean by "no royals on the deal line"?

One word: Foxwoods. They are about ten miles away, as you know. Sometimes a change for change's sake is in order. Clear the cobwebs and bad memories while still indulging in VP. I see RFs fairly often. Either witness hits, hit myself or arrive at a bank upon a Progressive reset, which means a hit within the hour. I cannot relate to your situation. I would have probably quit if in your predicament.

I have not hit a royal since April 2015. Over a year now. figure about 100,000 hands, so not statistically out of bounds. Have lost about 6-7k mostly on single line.50 99.5% plus games. Need a turnaround fast.

I'm not sure you should be counting the 99 hands in a hundred play machine as part of your streak, since the vast majority of them never had a chance for a Royal. Every time you hold a pair, those 99 next hands can't possibly pull a Royal.

I agree with billryan. If you play 440 hands of 100 line video poker (44,000 total) you should not expect to get a royal flush.

I disagree with billyjan.. Multiline is a bit different. It is analogous to being dealt the same starting hand numerous times. There are many, many starting hands where you do not draw for a royal. Why wouldn't you count them all, even iff you are counting the same one multiple times?

Just to answer a few questions. Up until a few sessions ago, as I posted, these stats are all from single line games. In the first two stretches of over 500k hands each, there were a few times when multi line games were played with minimal extra lines, usually 3,4,or 5. On those sessions, I only counted the deal line which is the center line. That was again the first two stretches. This time, I was playing single line up until 2 or 3 sessions ago. I am now playing spin poker and anywhere from 3 to 5 lines. No hundred play games factor into this equation. I have found that to keep from losing another 50k this year, which I absolutely refuse to do again, that I need to play the few extra lines and bet enough to be even or better when the quad deuces hit. For now, I am just playing bonus deuces wild. I am counting all hands now in this latest sample because in the long run, everything is supposed to balance out. If I am playing spin poker with 3 lines and I am dealt a Royal, I will say that I hit 3 Royals which would if hit today, bring the average from 0 in 300k to 1 every 100k for this latest test.
Edited to add....I actually stopped today on the way back from a family commitment out of state just to get some gas, a quick bite, and play for just an hour. Same machine, same game, and same 3,4,or 5 lines. About 2k hands were played and nothing good hit so the new Royalless total for this latest stretch is 298,000 hands.

I posted the other day about this. If I hit 500k again at Mohegan without a Royal, it is Foxwoods here I come. To be honest, I just don't like the place. It is another 20 minute drive each way, the smoke is worse, the clientele can be worse and as of 2 years ago, the paytables were much worse than Mohegan. I also have no points there, their tier system and lounge access system is weird and so forth. Financially though, I will have to give them at least one similar test if the above happens. For now at least the quad deuces are helping me to hold my own even without the Royals at Mohegan.
