Royal strategy?
Do people always go for the Royal, even if keeping only two cards before drawing?

It depends on both the game and the cards strategy wise. For example you don't want to hold just an Ace and a Ten. On the flip side you'd want to almost always hold a Ten and a Jack. Having said that, I personally hold A-10 every so often to see if I get lucky. (only on Deuces Wild.)
Do people always go for the Royal, even if keeping only two cards before drawing?
This depends upon who you are talking to. A professional playing strictly for profit would play according to the math. The math changes when the pay schedule changes. As a progressive royal jackpot gets higher, the strategy tilts toward going for the royal at all cost. Recreational players play for fun and excitement. As a recreational player, I make a conscience decision to go against the math and go for the royal when it costs me less than a nickel. This has paid off for me numerous times. Did I come out better than the math says I should? I actually don't know nor do I care. For me it's worth a nickel to take the shot. I'm not playing to win nickels.

I don't even know the JOB math to obtain the RF pursuit differential. In any case, I barely play at max coin half the time, so going for the RF would simply result in heartbreak hotel if I even hit it!

Talk about heartbreak... I eventually realized that controlling loses was more important on a negative game than hitting jackpots. The only way you are going to beat a negative game is with pure luck and you'll never get lucky enough flat betting max coins because the loses will eat up your winnings faster than jackpots will happen. I believe there are ways to maximize your luck, but that's another subject altogether.

I have had 18 Royals this year, all .05c, five or ten hand. The last 8 have been holding only 2 cards. 4 of those 8 were holding a 10 and picture card and 2 were holding ace and 10. On our level I'm not going with the "math", I'm going for the Royal.

I will hold a suited KQJ over a high pair, even thought it is technically not the right play.
