Question on misplays.

I was schmoozing and slow playing at the bar of EI, playing five dimes a hand. I was dealt two tens, a six and two deuces.I wanted to throw away the six but accidentally tossed a deuce as well. Instead of winning two dollars, I got back my fifty cents. The guy next to me told me to call the bartender, that they could look at the hand and it would be obvious I meant to hold the wild card.
For a dollar fifty it wasn't worth trying, but for future reference, can you get a mulligan on an obvious mistake?

Not in these parts from my past experience. They can indeed go back several hands but they do not cover mistakes made by players. I made a $2K mistake about a year ago and they did go back and check, they even agreed as to what my intentions probably were but the final decision was no, I "was" a seven star player there.

If you tried this where I play they would laugh you out of the casino.  The only time I have ever seen anyone physically carried out of a casino was about five years ago.  An older lady was playing three seats from me.  She was a grandma type who looked to be in her sixties all dolled up with lots of makeup. She started hollering and was really pissed about something.  I watched her as she called over the management.  She said she had selected quarters and the machine switched her to dollar play.  She evidently put her whole bankroll in the machine and it sucked it up in about 5 minutes.  She demanded her money back and when they told her no way, she started punching and kicking the manager.  It was an unbelievably funny scene as they carried her away.  My guess is they didn't give her any money back.

At Bally's in Vegas last August I meant to hold three 3's and one did not hold for some reason and up popped another 3 and a kicker. I was only playing quarters but the machine had one button in particular that I was having issues with and $200 is $200.

I pushed the service button immediately and they came over and in my case within just a few minutes proceeded to pay me the $200. Afterwards they spend some time cleaning the buttons and it played noticeably better afterwards.

In fact within about 15 minutes I hit a $2000 royal on it. I was playing three handed DDB STP and after drawing 4 to a royal on the bottom, I filled in the top game with a 2 times multiplier. Wish I had of had a bigger multiplier to go with it but under the circumstances was happy with the way things turned out.

I thought it showed a lot of class on Bally's part bc it was pretty obvious what happened. I could see where they could have been anal though and not do anything. I guess it depends on where you are playing and the slot technician you are dealing with.

If a machine malfunction is involved, I can see how you may have a case. If you intended to do one thing and did something else, they don't know what's in your head.   I suppose if you were seen as a valuable player to the casino, they would cut you some slack.  Dancer says some casinos will reimburse him a percentage of his loses.  I suspect you have to play some big bucks to get that to happen.

Given the stories I've read here so far, it's situation dependent. But it doesn't hurt to ask if bigger money is on the line. Worst thing they can do is say no.

I have limited time playing VP, but usually 99/100 if I made a mistake it is because the buttons don't work right. I've been sure I pressed the button to hold a card, but then it doesn't hold the card. Usually too playing nickel short coining just to kill time. so I don't even care about it. Dancer always talks about this saying to wait until it counts, but when it counts, you're going to have to tell a good story I'm sure.

I'm not really sure saying,"I thought I held it" will be good enough. Do you say I pressed hold, it read held, but then unheld just before I drew or what?

I think once I held the cards, I would take a pic to prove I held them. Then video actually drawing the cards in case a card became magically unheld. Is there are better word than unheld? Seems my dictionary doesn't like it.
