Luck Trumps Crappy Odds
We're in the North Georgia Mountains for the summer and took a nice trip with some friends to Cherokee. A good time was had by all and four sets of quad deuces kept my wife and I above water. After sitting home for a day our friends decided to give the new casino in Murphy another try. The VP odds in Murphy are horrible, but we're not professionals so "what the heck" off we went. We made the decision to limit our play to one hour before lunch and one hour after so we wouldn't ding our bankrolls too badly. Nothing happened before lunch, so we hit the Earl of Sandwich Food Court. As you can tell from our decision, we're high rollers. About 20 minutes into our after lunch play I hit a quad deuce for $250. Our friends came by and we all checked our watches with 15 minutes to go before leaving. Here's the nice gift I received courtesy of Harrah's. Thank very much!!

Congrats on the hit.
That is the Beau Rivage Deuces pay schedule (95.96% ER with perfect play). Probably should use CS.

VP's not about odds, it's about what happens when you play.

Great show Phil. And only 18 bucks left in the machine. Looks like we both got struck by lightning in a good way this week.

Couldn't agree more about luck vs crappy odds/paytables/math especially for recreational players. That is my experience after 10 years playing VP. Some folks have charmed VP lives, others don't.

[/quote]For sure. The luck vs. skill debate will go on forever. Who cares? I'll just keep posting my wins and let others keep talking about how skilled they are. Luck is good while it lasts.

Congratulations. I may be being greedy to seek second 2016 Royal Flush. About 1200 hands a visit, so around 60,00 hands a year.
