I ran across a post this morning where a new member that had a total of two posts,
Made the mistake of posting a personal thought of what he thinks happens when playing video poker.
Which in this forum seems to be a "VERY BIG NO,NO"
After reading some of the replies. I don't think we will ever see his third post.
Seems the way people get pounded around here by a few members...
The forum should be renamed too "Video Poker Hostel Reality Forum"
I think it's pretty damn sad this is happening.
Sooooooooo...
I did a little forum search and came across a post that caught my attention.
Seems the person was thinking the same thing I was, and I'm sure there are more members that are thinking along the same lines.
Seems there is a simple solution in making this forum people friendly.
The way I'm sure "WEBMAN" intended it to be!
So just read on to see if you think I'm on the right track...

There are a few members of this forum who believe any opinion other than their own must be dealt with in the harshest terms possible. The new member in question will undoubtedly never return or at a minimum will never be part of any discussion. What we need on this forum is tolerance of individuals who have different opinions on how to enjoy VP. There is a difference between expressing your views and intentionally demeaning someone in public. This means calling them stupid, unintelligent, lazy, undisciplined or liars. When this happens either the person who is the subject of the attack leaves never to return or retaliates which leads to long draw out wars of words.I can see how a post on the Strategy Forum could be moved to the Recreational Forum. What I can't tolerate is someone using personal attacks or insults to silence any view other than his/her own. Members who do this should be warned by the moderator and censored if it continues. This includes Experts, Gold members like me or anyone else if it applies.

some folks on this forum have a perma feud Tedlark and Daburglar my advise is to tune them out unless you want a comedidy show I play vp as the market to find the edge and if I cant find an edge I just don't play if I just want to "play around" I will play on this site the unbeatable games I would not play for real money.most folks are just playing for entertainment value ok for them its their money enjoy. this forum should be used to share ideas that help the vp community as a whole including the following: casino comps; good food; shows; wayst to avoid traffic ; promotions etc without insults to other posters

There are many different views on what this forum should be about. Many recreational players aren't concerned with comps because they believe they don't play long enough or big enough to earn them. I have good friends that refuse to get a player's card. This makes no sense to me, but that's the way it is. They also may enjoy playing in a particular way that pleases them regardless of the odds or ER. The new member that is the subject of this post was obviously in that camp. This doesn't mean he should be insulted off the forum for expressing his views. The whole idea of having a Recreational Forum was to have a place where recreational forum members could discuss video poker without summoning the anger of the strategy police. At the present time this seems to be working. The Strategy Forum is the place to discuss mathematically based or professional VP strategies. Currently, I am blocked from posting on that forum. This is perfectly fine with me as I personally don't believe math is that effective in predicting VP results and I don't wish to engage in discussions with professional gamblers. If others wish to, the Strategy Forum is open for business.Webman has defined the Recreational Forum as follows:The lighter side... playing for entertainment, less concerned about "the math."This seems like a reasonable description to me and I can't see how anyone would have a problem with someone playing any way they want with their own money.

Not sure if you are referring to my post or quarterchips regarding your observation regarding hostile responses. Regardless, your post reflects my thoughts. One of the reasons I have considered leaving the forum as I posted on May 4 (Time to consider leaving the forum ) has been the increase in hostile posts. The rhetoric as directed at the new member is typical of what is occurring recently. I agree that if it continues, very few new comers and many of us forum regulars will no longer post. That may make the zealots happy but the forum itself will suffer. I hope webman takes note of our concerns.

Um, advise? comedidy? wayst? In the past I have always saved most barbs for DaBurglar but maybe I should draw an arrow from my quiver.

You do realize most new members make a post so they can play in the free contests don't you? Most have no intention of joining the debates or posting further.
Take a look at the keno forum for example. Lots who have only made one post and no one ridiculed them.
Take a look at favorite casino forum. People will post " My favorite casino is XXX"....then we never hear of them again.
It is the debates that make this forum interesting whether you want to believe this or not. Not everyone shares the same belief of how things are run, so they post their thoughts.
Sure it get hostile at times....big deal. Grow a pair!
