life-altering advice needed
I was recently given the task of finding out about firestick for tv viewing, netflix, etc, apparently to some--the cost with cable/satellite is too expensive. I never thought I'd have any of this--so never paid attention to talk regarding it, aka--way clueless. Does anyone have the knowledge/patience to assist or point me somewhere that caters to the challenged. I don't know if my internet is good enough/or what to use..how to make sure I get all the channels I require for survival, any fees, etc....
did I emphasize the 'clueless' part enough? ok, if anyone has the low-down, appreciate the help

1) Can you sum up what your TV viewing requirements are....i.e. what shows/channels are VITAL for you to have & view, which ones are "nice" to have but you can live without, etc.2) Sum up your computer/internet needs & desires....i.e. what do you spend most of your time doing or viewing on the internet, how do you utilize your PC with or without the internet (do you conduct business such as EBAY, do you play Role Playing games, etc.)This info will definitely help define and scope what specifics you may or may not need, what you need to purchase, etc.

k, thank you...basically as far as the internet goes-- 100% spent on vp and sometimes youtube videos (and ya'll thought my life was boring)
stations required--all espn,nbcsp,cbssp,nfl,mlb,nba,sec networks...ahc,smithsonian,ID,reelz,tnt,tbs,nick
think that covers majority...if movie stations are possible, then would be nice.
Just dont want to sit there and watch that stupid circle spinning while it buffers after every 15sec of viewing

Just dont want to sit there and watch that stupid circle spinning while it buffers after every 15sec of viewingBased on the answer you just gave, and trying to read between the lines to determine that quality issues (like speed of internet and interruption of service & channels) are important to you, I honestly think getting the most bare bones, basic CABLE service option offered by your local cable company might be the most efficient, straightforward way to go instead of trying to piece meal acquire the various independent services that have all the things you might want....of course, without knowing the actual PRICES involved in your neck of the woods, I would have to defer to your ability to simply "do the math", comparing the most basic cable option that still gives you what you MUST have versus all the things you might acquire independently (Net flix etc.) Firestick, however, is the wildcard here....I've heard a lot of good things about Firestick, and some bad things (although most of the "bad things" seem to have as much to do with criticism of AMAZON itself rather than Firestick....again, here you yourself must simply figure your cost of the Basic Firestick, and then decide whether or not you need the additional AMAZON subscription service to get what you want to watch, if the basic channels that come with Firestick are not enough....)WHat general area or part of the country do you reside in again? I know you are a huge KC Royals enthusiast but I didn't want to assume you just lived in KC as well......

A firestick works with Amazon Prime, so it's $99 a year.
You also need internet access.

You have pretty much the same wants/needs as me. Which means you're pretty much screwed. If you want ESPN, you can't get a basic package (here at least). And you can't just add it on, you have to get a bunch of other stupid crap.I don't know how the fire stick is. I stream through my smart TV. I have both Amazon Prime and Netflix, though I'm considering cancelling the Netflix at some point. The selection on Amazon has improved a lot over the past couple years.I wish I could ditch the cable, but I need my football. It's a big price to pay for that though. I think we're within a couple years now of a big shake-up that will let people customize their plans more, as cable is quickly becoming obsolete in the current model. That will be bad news for some and good news for others. Also, don't go cheap on your internet with some crappy second rate solution. Cut expenses somewhere else, like buying store brand cereal or losing a ply on your TP. Life is too short to wait on downloads.
