Amazing and long overdue luck at Mohegan Sun

Post by olds442jetaway »

I had an overnight trip to Mohegan Sun last evening. I did play more hours than I can count including during the day today. It was just one of those days where the longer I waited, the more I was rewarded. Those days are few and far between and usually end in one giving back all of their early winnings and then some.
I had intended this to be a real low key session just playing nickels, watch some sports on the big screen at or near the bar, and watch a big chunk of the US Open while playing a bit today. I only brought 200 bucks with me. I ran into a friend who had fallen on hard times due to family health issues. He wasn't playing and had just stopped there to grab a to go meal with some of his points. He didn't ask, but I gave him 80 bucks of my 200 of course never expecting to get any of it back. The tears in his eyes when I gave him the money said it all.
Moving on, I only had 120 left so I decided to play just nickels on the Multi Strike machine and a little on the quarter spin poker machine. A couple of hours later that was nearly gone until I hit 5 Aces 3 times on Double Bonus Deuces Wild on the upper lines of the nickel machine leaving me ahead so far a nice amount of 143 bucks.
Never knowing when to quit, I put my original 120 away, 100 away, 3 bucks for waitress tips away, and headed to the other end of the casino for my favorite dollar spin poker machine that pays 800 for bet one for the Royal. I put in the 40 and so I won't bore the readers to death any further, shorten my story and just state my results, again only starting with 40 bucks on the dollar machine.
I varied my bets between one and 3 lines with no particular pattern. While playing just the center line, with 5 bucks bet, I was dealt 4 to the Royal in spades. I drew the King I needed good for 4,000 bucks.   I hit 4 deuces with just the center line bet and a bet of 6 bucks. Good for another 1200 bucks. In the interim, I hit 5 Aces several times playing Bonus Deuces Wild. After almost no sleep and a brief and fairly healthy lunch, I played the same machine an hour more and hit 4 deuces again at bet 5 bucks good for anther thousand bucks. I ended up over 6 grand for the session. Not counting the earlier nickel play, the 6 grand all resulted from just putting 40 bucks in that dollar machine.

Congrats and great story olds. Just remember that from little acorns do mighty oaks grow.

Maybe it was karma for helping your friend out? Hmm.....

Congratulations. $200 bankroll not a typo! I finished +$24 today thanks to a lucky roll of the dice. Trying to stay positive.

I was able to complete the Mohegan Sun promotion and be able to maintain my Soar status through next March. I knew it would be expensive running at least 50k through the machine to earn 100 status points which was required, but I got lucky on a couple of hands and kept the damage to a little better than the math would dictate. I had to play dollars or I never would have made it in the 4 days. I also knew if I was unlucky I would lose 5 percent even on a 99 machine. I was hoping to lose just 2 percent. Usually, on these promotions I never get a Royal and this trip was no exception.
What saved me was hitting quad deuces on the regular deuces wild game twice for a thousand bucks each. Had I not hit those and not hit the Royals, I could have lost 7 grand or more. Turns out, I lost just under 1800 bucks which translates into a 98.2 percent return. The machine was a 98.91 machine long term with hitting Royals and quad deuces, but only around 93 percent if you don't hit Royals or quad deuces. I beat the math a bit on my return considering I didn't hit any Royals. So the bottom line is I get all of my free stuff for another 6 months beyond my current expiration of the status at the end of September. Considering that I will be staying over there about 75 nights for that 6 month period, that's not a bad deal as it works out to be 24 bucks a night. I'm not counting other free stuff like free play, food, shows, gifts etc.
