We have been dealing with this issue in the Southeast for years. Our casinos tolerate VP. They certainly don't do anything to encourage it. On top of that some States hit VP players with outrageous taxes. The best way to combat this issue is to limit your coin in by playing less hands, playing slower or betting less per hand.
Aren't all machine jackpots subject to taxes, not just VP?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 8:08 amOn top of that some States hit VP players with outrageous taxes.
I am not an expert on State gambling taxes, but I believe so. In Mississippi for example, all slot machine hand pays are taxed at 3%. VP is considered a slot machine. This is on top of the Federal Tax which depends upon your tax bracket. Many States also do not not allow offsetting losses.onemoretry wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 8:42 amAren't all machine jackpots subject to taxes, not just VP?FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon Sep 03, 2018 8:08 amOn top of that some States hit VP players with outrageous taxes.
