Building wealth is very simple

Post by DaBurglar »

I came across this article on Yahoo that I felt everyone would benefit from, despite the outward appearance that it is really obvious....The truth is not nearly enough people do this or think to do it....

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/my-case-f ... 03024.html

I was lucky enough...And I do mean lucky because at the time I was a young brash know-it-all graduate who thought real wealth required BIG BOLD ideas...To come under the tutelage of a very wise man during my first job out of college, who impressed upon me the need to SAVE, even when it might be uncomfortable.

Of course, the casino industry probably hates articles like this but....

I'll never forget the time back in 2011 or thereabouts when President Obama made a general, very well intentioned comment on how some people who were struggling with the economy might need to TEMPORARILY forgoe things like trips to Vegas until they were more stable financially. His point was obvious.....But holy hell, did Steve Wynn and certain other Vegas wolves flip out!!!! They accused Obama of being anti Vegas and other things etc.

If President Obama would have mentioned forgoing things like major league baseball games instead of Las Vegas then all the major league team owners would have taken the same position as Steve Wynn and certain other Las Vegas wolves.

I applaud Steve Wynn and others who come to the defense of their industry if it deserves being defended.

Don't get me started on the Obama administration that led an all out attack on the middle class and small business. I remember an article in the Small Business Journal that warned of things to come when he first took office, it all came true. I'm not much of a Republican but the Dems made enemies that won't soon be forgotten.

That's typical....There was nothing to defend, because he wasn't attacking Vegas or casinos or anything of the sort, but people like you, who will rail against the culture of political correctness and all these people you claim are so sensitive, are just the same. You just choose different things to be all pissy about, which again is typical of your hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy is in fact a form of stupidity....

Seventy plus straight months of job growth, millions more Americans got health insurance, stock market at record heights, seven years of smaller deficits.
The horror. Just imagine where we could be if he wasn't trying to sabotage the country and our way of life.

Where did I say that I was against political correctness? Also, why is it bad for someone to defend their industry or something they love?

My point was simple, he could have said ANY industry and no matter what industry it was, could have sustained a down tick just by his mere mention of it. Would you had thought any differently on this if Obama would have said:"With these unsettling economic times maybe citizens should think more about saving money than purchasing a pug?"

If your nephew came to you , told you he was having a hard time and asked to borrow money, how would you feel if you found out he used it to go to Las Vegas?
I suspect his Uncle Ted would not appreciate it, and rightfully so.
Same goes for Uncle Sam.
Citibank claimed it needed billions to survive, turned around and gave a half a billion dollars to the Mets for the naming rights of a ballpark and took thousands of executives to Vegas to a private concert by the Eagles.
The optics,at minimum, were wrong.

+1

Awesome post

I guess Ted was equally upset at republican Rep. Chaffetz of Utah and his recent televised comment that people need to not buy the latest iPhone in response to the Republican health plan.....

Actually I was not the least bit upset because I don't own any Apple products.
