I have personally found race relations to generally be better in some of the southern cities I've visited as compared to the northeast.

I'm inclined to actually agree to that statement. Boston is very similar to NYC and Philly....You have very clear, Stark divisions between races, economic classes, and political groups (conservative and liberal).

Depending on where you spend your time in each City, you very well can come away with the impression that it is a racist enclave. Or...The most liberal place in the USA....Or the most ignorant....Or the most interesting....Or intelligent.
