There was once a forum member called case...they played in Vegas all
over the place...not much was won, but they were having lots of
fun...the final part of their journey, took them to a vp slot
tourney...not much happened at first, but then case got the thirst...the
hands started commin and the numbers up they were runnin...time's up
what a score, he hoped there weren't any more...close or ahead of his,
cause the big prize he wanted not to fizz... away from his grasp...and
when the numbers were announced at last...his score was still a mile
past...the next one and the last....5k all his to bring home to enjoy
another day...and for sure not too far away!!!!
I nominate Olds for VideoPoker.com Poet Laureate.

Best run I have seen. Was playing at black gold casino in hobbs, NM. Man next to me hit a royal flush playing double double bonus for $1000 since he was playing quarters. He switched machines and played dollars and within five minutes hit another royal for $4000. There were no machines left to switch to so he waited for his payout and then switched to deuces wild playing $2 game. In ten hands he hit a royal for $8000.
That was 18 months ago. I see him occasionally at the same casino. I asked him last week how many royals he has hit since that run. His answer was zero.

Wow what a run that would be. I once saw a person get a royal and then just a few hands later got another royal....on the same machine.

Very nice story. But wouldn't perfect play suggest saving the two pairs -- and not just the 3-3, even if it is DDB?

Hard to challenge success though.

The poster was in a video poker tournament. In the tournament environment, when presented with a shot at a big hand, you might as well go for it, because, as they stated, full houses don't win tournaments.

Onemoretry is right. Because it was a tourney you are after big hands. In a regular game you hold both pairs. You can't play conservative if you want to win a tournament.

It had nothing to do with picking the right machine, you just got a lucky random draw(s).  Congrats!
