Review of recent trips

Post by Lucky Larry »

Its been a long time since I posted. With a double load this semester and a parent going into hospice we've been limited in our trips since January. Limited also in our hits. For every good trip 2-3 have been just quick deposits of our bank roll.

In the mean time our daughter has learned all the system tricks I can teach and now is reaping the rewards. Free flights and lodging to Vegas. Free cruises every six months from the Golden Nugget Lake Charles, huge cash back and free play. Of course it hasn't hurt to hit multiple "G" several times on her free play. Three on one night alone playing slots and then hitting again on VP. Keep it up Carrie.

Most of our trips have been up and down. Up to $1-1.5K and then back down the next trip or splitting the money (Its a community state). Things began to pick up our last trip for Sweet C. She loves the bank of 25¢ progressive Deuces Dbl Bonus. The progressive is for D/A, Deuces, and RF. Often it gets up over $1,200 and then it generally will hit. She's caught more than her fair share of the progressives. This last trip she caught the D/Ace progressive for almost $600 and then a short time later the progressive RF for over $1,200.

So now its time to share my story. I've found one special machine with a 99.8 % return Deuces variation. So I play it frequently. But, that's not the story. Our last trip one of the table dealer's got off early (slow night) and came to the area where I was playing. He started checking out the pay tables using his phone app. We started talking and he told me he was just learning how to play. I told him to review the pay table but that if he moved to the machine on my right and up from 1¢ to 2¢ denomination his pay return on JOB would go to 9/6 from 9/5. (some of the machines have different load sets). He moved over and up and would check hands most of the time on his phone. Since my play was slow, to kill time, we would discuss JOB and VP strategy in general. So Derrick puts in $200 and starts playing 100 hand 2¢ JOB to learn. About 30 minutes into the game he's dealt quad Jacks for $250. Next, hand is quad 5's for another $250. After much discussion of those hand's odds and how the game is playing he is dealt a straight flush for $500. After a full house and then his first Royal holding 3, Derrick is up to $1,300 and "HOOKED". As buddies come by he tells them, "look at this I'm up to $1,200-1,300 and I started with $200 to kill time until my girlfriend gets off work. He then tells them that thanks to me recommending he move up denomination and over to the machine on my right instead of the one on my left he has been hitting like crazy. Another happy and "hooked" VP player. "Once a teacher, always a teacher," Sweet C says to me.   As she comes to sit down by me I introduce her to Derrick, he retells his story of my help and his hits as I smile. Derrick's girl friend gets off work and we hear the story once more and they leave with Derrick cashing out $1,200. (I've always believed in helping other and this isn't the first time my "students" have killed it. (One was dealt Deuces-as I was teaching him beside me.) I'm just hoping someone will come reteach me so I can get those hits.

It seems like beginners always win. I hope you told him what lies ahead...

Good story.
