Fifty ain't thrifty. Not all day anyway. I sometimes strategize how to recoup my loss the next trip, which is a fool's errand.

Generally speaking I don't like people sitting next to me due to distractions. However, I play at a time at night when rarely this happens and usually when it does, they are hoppers and don't play too long.

One thing that I have noticed many times playing Ultimate X is that someone will sit next to me and before playing, they will start to cycle through all the game variations (double, double double, triple, deuces wild, etc) as fast as they can, then get up to leave, rarely actually playing the game...just going through the various games and then usually leaving.
Seems like some sort of ritual, but not sure what the actual point of it is.

I never even thought of that! Shows what I know...
Now I have to try the same thing!

Two observations on fast play.
1. Slappy says playing fast if fun. Slappy is the annoying guy at Harrah's that literally slaps the buttons as fast as he can and annoys everyone around him. He does get hand pays though so I can't say it doesn't work.
2. When I play fast, I tend to lose. Most of my big wins come after playing at a slow/moderate rate for a while and then having some sort of awkward pause. A drink arrives, a cigarette break etc. I will often produce these pauses intentionally to induce this outcome. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The one thing I try to avoid is to play at the same pace for a long time, whether it be slow, moderate or fast.
Randomly random. That's the name of the game.

I never had a big hit when at high speed, just sped up losses.
