Have you been to China?
I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos made by expatriates, and it looks awesome to visit or work. China isn't what I thought it was (poverty, famine, slavery, executions). There are some bad things, but overall positive, and actually overall, seems like there is a ton more freedom and liberty there than in the US. We're the ones living in a police state, not them. It seems like total anarchy there and that appeals to me.

Make sure you wear your Free Tibet tee shirt and let me know how that works out for you. Yeah you are correct, if you wear certain slogans on your shirts/shorts, you will be targetted by the ubiquitous communist party secret police.....also, if you openly practice ANY religion in Mainland China, whether it be Catholicism, Protestant (any denom), Hindu, Islam, Buddhism, Mormom, Jehovah witness, Druids, or Satanism, they will harass you until you stop, and if that doesn't work, throw your arse in Jail.China today, while certainly MORE tolerant and free than it was in the 60s and 70s, is still a communist state dominated by a totalitarian atheistic autocratic politburo that puts its own interests (i.e. the "party, or specifically, the few individuals privileged to be in that party") above all else.HOWEVER......for those people among us in the USA who actually believe that we live in a FREE Liberated society, think again. We have definitely LESS restrictions as a whole than China or a number of other countries, but we are NOT free in the sense, or in the manner or to the degree that the founding fathers, originally conceived and desired.I'll leave it to the respondents to this post to try and identify or elaborate on just how exactly our "freedom(s)" have been limited or curtailed in ways that were NOT intended or envisioned by the founders of this country,

It seems like there they don't screw with anyone unless you hurt someone doing what you're doing. You cam drive the wrong way down one way streets, drive on the sidewalk, speed, any it's cool. The companies can choose how they want to run a business and unless they make someone sick, the government doesn't come after them. Theoreticals they could give two ****s about, it is the practicals they care.
They have so much businesses, not just WalMart. The streets are safe and safe at night, people are always out and about.
I'm sure there are downsides, I know most of them but not all. Foreigners can never become citizens there and citizenship really is needed for a lot of things necessary to function. I'm still impressed, it's not close to what I had been taught or thought or assumed.

When we were kids they told us Communists were going to kill us and taught us to hide under our desks for fear of Russian nukes. In the sixties they told me and my buddies to go to Vietnam and save the world for democracy. I was in the ROTC at the time learning the "Theory of War" and why we should fight for the oppressed. Many of us died in those bloody fields and the Vietnamese people survived and prospered without our help.I love America, but I believe we are misguided when we try to force our system on others. People, cultures and history are different and those differences require different approaches to freedom and government. China has been through a lot of changes, some good and some awful. When you owe someone a lot of money and are dependent upon them for your next paycheck, they don't seem so bad. China took our jobs and a lot of our money. Not because they stole it, we gave it away or invited them to take it while we fought over abortions, guns, immigrant walls and silly tweets. Until this country gets united again, we will continue to suffer the consequences.

I don't believe we will ever be united again. There are too many huge differences between the east and west coasts and the heartland as well as urban areas vs. rural/suburban areas. Giving states more control over doing things the way they want might be the way to go. California is already doing this with free college education for all, including illegals. Don't think that would fly in Kansas.

I've been to China four times, and what struck me was:
Nationalism. The Chinese are very proud of their country. Their country's history dates back thousands of years. Americans have no concept for what it does to the psyche to be immersed in a culture that rich, powerful, and old - and this is evident everywhere you look.
Hard working people. I simply did not see a lot of laziness. People worked very long hours.
On Sarojni Nagar Market you can buy good replica SNOWBLOWERS any brands.
On the negative side: In China, there is absolutely, positively no such a thing as common courtesy towards anonymous people or the environment.
