Burned machine
Would you play in a VP machine that paid 2RF previously in the day at the same game (five play DDBP)?
I was playing DDBP five play in that machine and it was bad ,nothing was happening , not even 4 of a kind, and then a lady
Told me about the 2 RF, so I moved to another machine...but we can't always know what was paid previously...so
What would you do? When do you decide to change machine?

You have to ask yourself, do you feel lucky? Well do you?
I hit a $20K TDB Royal one night, got paid and went to dinner. Came back and the only machine open was the one I'd hit earlier. Everyone was avoiding it like the plague. I sat down, played TDB and two hands in, dealt AAAA2 for another $20K.
Granted it wasn't two Royals but it still paid out.

The cards are dealt randomly and the machine doesn't have a "memory" of recent jackpots or cold streaks. If it did pay out 2 royals recently, the machine has no way to "tighten up" and go cold. If it did have this ability, it would no longer be random - which would be illegal in most jurisdictions.
I was playing once next to a guy who hit 2 nice handpays minutes apart. As he was leaving he said "these things pay out at 98% (true in the long term with perfect play), and it will have to go cold for a few days to balance out the numbers (false)".

Why is two the magic number? Why wouldn't it "go cold" after the first one in order to "get back to average?" Why not 3? We all fall victim to these superstitions in one way or another. But really, playing another machine doesn't hurt either if it has the same pay table. So nothing wrong with that. Sometimes a machine just "feels" bad and you need a change in scenery. Even if mathematically I know that every machine has the same chance, I'll switch if I need a refreshing change. Even if it just "feels" better. Nothing wrong with that. All part of the casino experience in my opinion. You may find me cursing a particular machine if it hasn't paid me in a long time, but you won't find me telling anyone that these superstitions are actually true, either.

I could care less if a machine had hit previously before I sat down to play it. Many times I've hit multiple royals (or a combination of royals and AWAK) on the same machine in the same session but if I left the machine after hitting the first royal? Preposterous.

Two Royals in a short period? Obviously the machine in on fire, and in a hot cycle. It might go on punching out Royals all day until the casino catches on to its suicidal run. Obviously a machine that has had enough and is forcing its way into retirement.
They'd have to drag me away from such a machine.
I change machines when 1) a neighboring player lacks proper hygiene or is smoking a cigar.
2)when I feel like it.

I'm superstitious, so I move like I need s bathroom. I have made progress in this area. I now play machines that have a prior payout of up to $700. Benign phobia. Some say that means they're in there. You can rationalize anything in these vice dens.

I remember when most machines were coins, and hand pays were few, most casinos would ask you to play a hand after the jackpot. I imagine that was so people didn't pass the machine by seeing the jackpot just happened. I wonder how much it cost the casino long term.to have a machine sit empty because the last hand jackpot is still evident.

That probably meant something Billryan, but the supposed official reason is so another player can't claim the same win. That's what a slot director on one of the forums said.

When I read this title I was thinking they were talking about machines with burned screens.
