[/quote]I hear you.  The whole idea of the royal flush is the anticipation of hitting one.  Some players go a lifetime without ever seeing one.   I can't think of anything more depressing than someone like that hitting one for $62.50!  That doesn't change the fact that you will most likely pay more for that royal flush than you earn from it.   This is especially true in today's severely negative VP pay schedules.   If you do the math on most of today's quarter VP games you will find many of them are more than $20 an hour plus losers at max coins.  Unless you hit a royal every 50 hours, you are paying to see one.  The thing that changes this equation is comps.  If I play single coin quarters, I'll never see free anything.  When I play max coins, the casino loves me and they call me by my first name at the front desk.  That's worth it to me even if I don't make money in the casino.

The last couple of pros Mr Dancer had on aren't Vegas based. Biggest AP I know lives in Boston. Flies out Thursday night and flies home Sunday or Monday.

No thanks.    Our favorite place to play VP is Colorado.   All the casinos are non smoking and they treat us like valued customers.    We love the mountains, especially in late April with a little snow on the ground.  My wife doesn't care for it, but I like Reno.  It has a western flair that I find appealing.  The Peppermill has great VP.Part of our fun in VP is traveling.   We love to take VP road trips across the country.   On these trips we sometimes find ourselves playing VP for days on end.  On these trips you really have to watch your losses.  I play max coins all the time now except when I take pot shots on the big machines.  When I do this I'm looking for a quick win and I'm gone.  I have done very well playing single coin on $5 machines.  If I get ahead substantially, I play $25 a hand with the casino's money.  This is the only way I would ever consider playing this big.  Money is too hard to come by.   Throwing it away by the truck load is not in my DNA.

I just caught the vid with Bob and Mike for America casino guide. Despite Dancers endless self-promotions, thought it was a very cogent discussion on video poker, especially in today's reality in the US. He highlights vegas as a place with excellent vp games, but doesn't rule out other areas. And mentions that vpfree2 is a good guide but not all encompassing....which is surely true. The only criticism I have is there is no mention of progressives...which I understand Dancer is not a complete fan on, but progressives very important and for some people in certain areas, is the only chance to gain an edge on the game.
Lastly, I agree that software is a must for people who want to take video poker to any further level than the beginning.

While you were out in Blackhawk this past spring, there was a BJ game in several casinos there that was worth a couple hundred dollars an hour. I don't know how or why it took the casinos so long to pull it, but they finally did. It was as if they kept shutting their eyes saying people are just getting lucky, we'll recoup our losses tomorrow.
Well worth the flight and car rental from Vegas.

[/quote]No offense, but what are you asking for?   Do you want to limit everyone to one post per thread?  Do you want to limit the number of posts someone can make?   Do you want to limit posts to only people that say things you like?   Forums can be a tough place.  If you are going to hang out here, you need thick skin.  They're not good for people who get their feelings hurt easily or who don't want to hear contrary opinions.   I don't post on the Strategy Forum.  If you don't want to see my posts, go there.
