Re: Deuces Wild Poker

And, another question: four of a kind occurs about once every fifteen or sixteen hands in deuces wild, versus once per 420-430 hands in a non wild game, while straight flushes come along, on average, roughly once per 200 hands in deuces wild, as compared to once per 9000 hands or so in non wild games. How can you possibly disagree, as you did, with the statement that these hands are much easier to attain in deuces wild? Am I to assume that you're not going to bother addressing this question?

First of all, stats mean absolutely nothing to me in programmed video poker. My post was more venting than anything else and doesn't need to be dissected and analyzed. I just wanted to know why DW is changed so much within all the games. That's all. There were no trick questions but lots of assumptions. I refuse to get into this debate with you so you can feel superior with all your knowledge about poker. I don't care about that stuff, I like to play and I like to have a fair shot at winning hands. When I go to a real casino to play, I don't count on winning, but I hope to and once in a while I do.

Someone else mentioned playing other games.. I do play some of the other games occasionally but prefer DW. I'm sure you have your preference too.

First of all, stats mean absolutely nothing to me in programmed video poker. I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't really matter. As you stated, you were in a "super snit" and venting.   Some of your comments about deuces wild were inaccurate.

My preferred video poker game is, in fact, deuces wild. But, decent deuces wild pay scales are not always available, so other games become more attractive.

When I play the monthly contest, I also play deuces wild. At times, I have had some great results, but there have also been some pretty crummy sessions. I have never been as low as your 195, but I have had a few in the 225-250 range. Needless to say, these poor sessions usually result from no premium hands, and lots and lots of zeros.

I think I used the wrong terminology on my statement... I think the correct word should have been strategy.. I believe there is no such thing in programmed games. It's just what the hand give you at that point in time.

I was upset a few weeks ago over a score of 270 in the monthly contest... but hitting below 200, well, it just did me in.

The comments I made about DW are what I have experienced. But... I still prefer it over a lot of the other games.

I understood the original post. She wants wild royal multipliers equivalent to straight flush multipliers. The thing is, the game designers are trying to mix and match pay schedules to make the math come out. If they add a bigger multiplier to the wild royals, they have to reduce the multipliers somewhere else  --- perhaps making straight flushes AND wild royals have a multiplier of 11. Would that be a better game? I don't know. It would be a different game with a different strategy. Some people would prefer it, some wouldn't, and many wouldn't realize the correct was different between the two games.Often when players want a different pay schedule, they just want MORE --- not give up something to get something else. That seems to be the case here.If you're playing the monthly contest seriously, game selection is a key part of it. If you don't like the features of one game, you need to pick another game. Limiting yourself to one game and then crying foul when it doesn't pay as much as you wish it to isn't smart gambling. If you think other games pay better in the contest, play one of the better-paying games!

With regards to daily/weekly contests, that's TDB nearly every time it's available. Not because it's the best longterm payback of course!
