Gold Membership - Beta Tester Feedback

Please tell me why to recieve my "reward" for testing I have to sign up using my credit card, which automatically bills if I don't cancel in time.
 
This is a pretty pathetic way to "reward" anyone.

Imshakes, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by this system.The Gold membership requires a credit card to activate and create a Gold profile. There are a lot of reasons for this, one of which is so that the new "my account" area can function. This is now a live part of the site that is deeply integrated.  If you would like, you can simply cancel right after signing up and your account will remain active until your expiration date. Cancellation can be done easily online (instantly) by clicking on "my account." We have tried to make it as easy as possible to cancel. Of course, we do hope people will continue to enjoy the service.

Agree. Only after numerous documentations about scanner2malware, did this site respond. I have serious concerns about the security within the site. Therefore, i will decline my free membership under these circumstances.

All credit card transactions are handled over a secure server and Verisign is one of the most trusted credit card processors in the business. Clearly we need to accept payment for these services online, so that will always remain a requirement of Gold Membership.

I went ahead and signed up, but I agree with the sentiment.  I'd prefer to send in a $60 check for a year.   I have a similar situation with my ISP, in that I'm paying an extra $2 a month to NOT do credit card billing.

We are working on a way for people to be able to mail in a check for their membership, but it will likely not be ready before the new year. If you require these accommodations, please send me a private message and we will do our best to take care of you.

I was very surprised and disappointed that we as beta-testers have to sign up with a credit card. I think a better way of handling this is to give us the option to continue our membership after the 3 month "FREE" period. I will most likely not sign up for gold membership because of this reason. What a disappointment this was. Shame on you VP.com
