Triple Double Bonus Question
What is the expected difference in value if you hold 3 to a rf (say hearts) instead of holding a pair? I was playing multi-hand on this web-site and was dealt: AH JH 10H JC 4S. I went ahead and went for the RF and hit it on one hand. I am assuming long-term this is the better play? If I had been dealt a pair of Aces I would have kept them instead due to the equal payout (with kicker) as a RF. Thanks for any information that can be provided. This web-site and the discussions that occur is great!!!!

It is important to understand the payback of a FH to properly answer the question. With that said, for 9-7-4 TDB the pair of jacks is the better play by just a small margin (6.65 to 6.52). Had it been AQJ of hearts instead then the 3RF is the better play. If the FH paid back less then 9-1, I suspect the jacks would drop enough to make 3RF the best play.

Thank-you sir. While I have had marginal success (profit wise) playing VP the last couple of years, must say this forum has taught me I did not quite know as much as I originally thought. Will be visiting my favorite city in a few weeks and have been practicing very hard on this web-site.

I will be there 12/16 thru 12/19 or 20. Is that in your time frame?

Actually not. I will be there from 12/06-12/10. Taking my mom for her first trip and then my girlfriend is meeting us out there. Where do you normally stay when you go? It would have been neat to meet you! This is a bonus trip this year. the past few years have been going in May the week of the Kentucky Derby. My mom wanting to go made me pretty darn happy!

I stayed in the past at Orleans but since I have taken up VP and they have pathetic offerings I have shifted allegiance to Gold Coast. I like having Palmsacross the street, and the Rio which I will have to explore. Breakfast buffetat GC is vastly better than Orleans, and that is an understatement. GC hasgreat late night specials also. The rooms are not quite as nice but usuallyquite a bit cheaper. More money to feed the machines. Crowd more to my liking as well.

Jm 002546,
Good luck to you. The food and buffets always taste a little better when you are winning at least a little money. I always stay at the Excalibur. Room and food comped. Nothing fancy, but nice and I know my way around. Have not been to the GC for awhile, but I really liked it last time I visited. I will check back with you to see how the trip went!!
