In my humble opinion and experience playing VP here is that although basic VP strategy holds true, it's not playing perfect VP strategy that's gets you to the finals here. I'm not saying to forget about basic strategy but for the purpose of winning the contests here high scoring and hitting the dealt royal flushes and 4 aces plus kickers are what eventually win. That said if you are playing in casinos, yes, perfect basic strategy is a important.
