More Harrahs Tahoe

Post by onemoretry »

When we departed Harrahs Tahoe this past August 28 we had absolutely no idea when we"d be returning. As it evolved, it was just a shade over two months later, thanks to an offer from CETs Buffalo National Casino Marketing office. We departed Buffalo on November 2 and flew to Reno on Southwest airlines, this time via Las Vegas. Coincidentally, our departure time was 5:30, just like last time, but, unlike last time, it was 5:30 am, not pm. We stayed at the Best Western near the Buffalo airport, and had a wakeup call for an ungodly 3:15am.

On our way to Buffalo the day before, we stopped at Seneca Niagara for lunch, and two hours or so of play on the 50c 5 line machines we normally play there (8/5 bonus poker). My wife had a nice session and was up $500, while I had a pretty miserable one except for one hand, where I was dealt the four aces for a nice $1000. I finished at plus $200.

A big plus from the early departure was the fact that we were at Harrahs by about 12:30 pm, and had the rest of the day to acclimatize.

Other than a reception that evening, and a winery tour the next day, there were no formal events on the trip, and we were on our own.

Over the four days, we played mostly 25c 10 line video poker, with a little bit of single line 25c 8/5 bonus poker thrown in. My play on the 10 line was exclusively 9/6 JOB, while my wife, who really doesn't like plain jane JOB, played 7/5 Super Aces.

I had one royal in about 71000 hands over the four days, and finished down $1700. My wife had a spectacularly good run playing the Super Aces game, and was up $3800. She had three royals, and a considerable number (I really don't know how many) sets of quad aces. I kept hearing her say: "Got them again". Together, we put on about 17000 base tier credits ($170000 coinin), which, with the help of the bonus system, translated to 47000 tier credits added to our total, securing 7 Stars for another year.

As is our norm, we stayed over at Seneca Niagara on the way home. The video poker gods took some revenge on her, and took back $2600 of her Tahoe winnings. I managed, with the help of a $2000 royal, to be up $800 at Seneca for the day.

The bottom line was, overall for the trip, plus $1000 between the two of us, which suits us just fine. Our bankroll is intact for our next Nevada trip, which is to Laughlin in two weeks.

What a wonderful trip. Any time you come home with more money AND get a ton of tier credits it is a bonus.

We will be staying in Laughlin the month of January as we leave for our cross country casino stops the day after Christmas. We will spend some of February in Vegas before working our way back home.

Have you taken the scenic boat cruise on Tahoe. Harrahs used to comp it for 7 stars.

We certainly agree with that notion.

I assume, when you stay in Laughlin, that you rent accommodations. If you don't mind my asking, what does it cost?

With regard to the Tahoe scenic cruise, we hav never been offered it. Assuming we get back there some time, we'll look into it.

look forward to hearing great report of wins in Laughlin! I certainly hope I can do that, and not have to post something like last year's December one, where not only did we come out somewhat in the red, but had an unscheduled five hour stop in Las Vegas on the way home.

Yes we rent a condo in Bullhead City. The condos go from the river to highway 95 in a U shape. In the middle of the complex they have a lagoon that connects to the river and you can dock your boat.

The condo is 2 bedrooms with a fireplace. We got a good deal at 1500 for the month and that includes everything. Prices have gone up the last few years but this place was still good value. Two years ago we rented a beautiful 3 bedroom house on a hill overlooking the river and the casinos of Laughlin. In 2015 it was 1600 and this year they wanted 2400 hundred. Big jump in price.

Here is a picture. This is not our condo but one from the same complex. Rent varies from owner to owner.

When your spouse says things like "got 'em again", Super Aces is a good game!

Nice Trip!
