If in fact the same thing happens to me as you over and over and again and I mean hitting quads every hour or so after tens or even hundreds of thousands of hands, then that means the machines are in fact not random as they claim to be. Not to be contrary here, but wouldn't the fact that results are all over the map, patternless, and totally unpredictable, confirm randomness rather than the opposite?

Cold machines generally stay cold. Forever?

Right, italicize generally. No, but long enough to outlast most BRs. Behold the -$400 and beyond entries on Dan's thread. I shudder to type them. Today I saw a DDB guy go -$100 on two consecutive HL machines, common for that crap show. He ventures to a third and hits 4-K for $250. He kept playing, but that's his problem.

FAA,
I believe WildMan's method is start with money to play 10 hands. If you hit a quad, SF, or RF then move to another machine. If you double your starting money and not hit a quad, cash out at what you started with so it is break even and move.

So if playing quarters, put in $12.50 ($15 and cash out at $2.50).

I already follow the first half, moving on a quad or above. The second half intrigues me. Ten Hand Tryout. Reduced to $2.50, you really should move before the avalanche buries you. The guy's not stubborn enough to write his own epitaph.

It's really the principle that matters. Okay idea to replicate anywhere outside of fast and loose LV.

Yes you would think so....But what if the only time there is a pattern is if moving around results in hitting a quad every hour or every 400 hands or so. If that happens over and over again and there aren't stretches where you go 4,5,6 or even 8 hours without a quad, then to me the randomness is gone.

I actually hate quad based games.  To me they are either feast or a slow drip to an empty wallet.  A quad is a very rare hand.  Some days I can go all day and not see one.   Then there are the days when they show up just enough to really tick you off, like hitting four 7s when your down $300!   The feast days are great, but it seems they don't happen as often as they used to.  Probably because I remember them more than the losing days.I prefer Deuces Wild.  You would think Jacks or Bonus Poker would be milder, but it isn't.  A deuce can pop up anywhere and make a lousy hand great.  More than one and you are getting paid.  Lately, I have been starting out with BP.  If a quad happens in the first 100 hands or so, I'll stay.  If not, I'm back to Deuces Wild.  I'm sure I would do better if I played Deuces all the time, but I need a break every now and then.

It may be wise to employ this strategy if quad free 150 hands. Vamoose to the Deuce.
