Session loss & losing streak?
I was just kind of curious as to what other players favorite vp games are and what $$ denomination they usually play and how much they are willing to lose on a bad session. Also I'd like to here about some of the bad streaks. The worst losing streak I had was 13 in a row, I never hit anything above quad 2,s,3's,4's. I usually play DDB at the $2 denomination at max play. On a bad day I am willing to play $2K of my bankroll before I give up for that day. I do on special occasions play $5 DDB and TB and have only played max play a few times, $25 per push is a little extreme for my taste but I did hit quad aces this year on one of these occasions for $6K. The most I have ever won on a single trip was $26K so that would be considered my best trip. The worst trip I can recall was a two day trip in which I hit a royal flush when we first walked in the casino for $4K and ended up leaving for home late the next day a $300 loser.

pokerguy, I enjoy playing dollar and two dollar at max never less than max. I too like ddb and tb but I have been on a real dry spell(19 losing trips in a row to be exact)! I practice 3-4 days a week and play very well so I know the streak will turn around soon or I hope so!!!!!!!!!! I like a bankroll of $1500 for dollars and $3000 for two dollar machines, good luck to all and I would love to hear more stories.

Good topic. I play DDB at the quarter level, single line mostly. I don't know what it is but I just have not played multiple play machines that much. If I am doing well I like to jump up to the 50 cent level and have even dabbled in the $1 dollar range. I have heard some members use credits when talking about bankroll and that seems like a good idea. Using credits as a unit of measure I usually bring 800 credits for my quick stops to the local Indian casinos in California. Of course this is only for a few hour visit. Sometimes if it runs out too fast I will hit the ATM for another $60-100 but that is it. They don't offer full pay machines but I do play 9/6 which is the best schedule offered. They also have 9/5 and even 8/5 YUCK! When I go to Vegas I will bring approx. 6000 credit bank roll for quarters for a few day stay. I like to play for long periods of time and also like to visit different casinos. As far as loosing streak are concerned I have had some bad ones myself. Last month I thought I was heading for my first positive year with this game and I have had three losing sessions in a row that have made that dream less probable. I am hopeful that the wife and I will have Lady Luck on our side when we go to Vegas for New Years. Last year I hit a Royal at Fiesta Rancho but my wife sucked out. Two years ago she hit 4aces with a kicker 4 times. This year I am hoping we can combine that luck but I will not hold my breath...

What is it about hitting a good hand right when you get to the casino? The last two times to the casino I hit 4-3s with the first bill I inserted into a machine but ended up with little else for the entire visit? This is not the first story I have on this subject but it is uncanny. I have had many trips that I have started the trip with a quad very early on and gotten squat the rest of the time. Has not happend with the royal yet but I guess that would fall under the "quality problem" catagory. My last royal was hit very early in the session but I only ended up with $600 because I could not hit anything else. I was lucky because it was just a day trip and I was not in casinoland for an extended stay or else my story would have been similar or worse. Boy was I irritated, usually my one or two royals a year are joyous events where the royal is the end result of an awesome session but this was not one of them.
I have, however, had the reverse happen. In 2000 I was at the Fiesta Rancho and I was down $1400 and decided to try one more $100. I then hit 4aces on four differnt machines and then hit the Royal. I think I ended up postive a few hundred dollars for this trip. I have only had this happen one time to this magnitude in my whole playing carreer. This I believe falls into the "Miracle" catagory. Just goes to show that "You never know!!"

I play mainly DB, with some play on other games (mainly DDB). I also have sessions where I'm mainly concerned about keeping my comps up, so those I play mainly BP. Most of my play is $.25, though I do sneak some play in on $.50 and $1. Here in Colorado there's a $5 per bet limit, so the highest denomination available for single line play is $1.
I never bring more than $500 to the local casinos, and sometimes go with less. The reason for that is that I've seen from my own experience that if I don't hit anything nice with $500 that at least lets me play for a while, chances are that the session will be a losing one anyway, so why make the damage worse? Always exceptions to that, of course - but on the other hand, some sessions simply can't be won, no matter how much you've brought with you! When I go to Vegas I'll budget $700 for a session and get more $.50 and $1 play in. If I happen to hit some $1 winners I'll take some of the winnings and try my luck on $2 or $5 play.
My worst losing streak in terms of consecutive sessions is 12. That was many years ago. I did have a run of 10 sessions in February without hitting Aces, which is a record for me. In fact, three of my four worst Ace-less streaks have come this year. Very bad year for Aces.

That's a good point and like you mentioned there will always be exceptions and that is what keeps me playing even when I have that bad feeling. The time I lost all the royal flush plus $300 was one of those times. I hit the royal on the first machine I played on the way to check in the room with a $20 bill. I just kept thinking sooner or later I'll have to hit something. One trip I was with three friends and they had found me back at the vp machines and announced they were ready to go. They asked me how I was doing, which was not too good, I was down to my last $300 of the $2K I brought with me. I was playing $2 DDB at max and told them if it was okay I wanted to play one more $100 and I would be ready to go. They all stood around and watched me hit the quad aces ($1,600). So since I was waiting to be paid I decided to stick another $100 in the next machine Quad aces w/kicker (4K), so of corse I had to get on the next machine and hit quad aces ($1.600) on it also. That made me stop playing because I had three machines waiting on handpays and no cash left. When they paid me the first aces I still had 30 credits left and hit quad aces ($1,600) again. On a night where it looked like a bust I made a last second shot for a nice chunck. Thats the kind of stuff that stays in the back of your mind even when deep down I know it's probably not my night. But you never know.

I've been playing for 14 years, and I've had multiple machines waiting for taxable winners only twice. The last time was late last year, when I hit Aces three times in about 20 minutes on $1 TB+ ($1,200 each) plus a $1 Royal. I actually had three machines in a bank of four tied up at one point - me playing one of them while the other two were blinking. The slot attendant was getting confused over which W-2G went with which jackpot!

Right on!! Now that is a story! I have had my share of luck ( I think?) but not to that extent. If you were not a senior member I would have to say that was unbelievable. Kind of like the Texaco station story posted a month or two ago. Haha... I know this kind of luck can happen and that is what keeps me coming back. I probably would have told my friends to leave and stayed a while longer.
Thanks for sharing this story!

About 10 years ago my wife and I were playing OEJs and she got tired of getting nothing and decided to try something different. There were 3 machines along the same row as the OEJs with DB,TB,DB. She proceed to hit aces on all 3. She had to move because they all spat out coins whenever these jackpots were hit. It was amazing to see.
