18School shootings thus far in 2018
Another Florida Massacre at a SCHOOL involving an AR-15https://www.yahoo.com/gma/police-respond-shooti ... es.htmlThe second amendment does not TRUMP every single reason, attempt, or issue when it comes to GUN CONTROL. Clearly something more is needing to be done regarding the availability of certain, SPECIFIC types of firearms and Guns.....There are specific guns that should be 100% Illegal for the general public to own, and Assault rifles are clearly one of them....there is no VALID reason for a civilian in the USA to own a firearm that is solely designed for OFFENSE, to kill as many as possible. The second amendment, written and conceived in the ERA of front loading powder and ball muskets, is inadequate to cover the modern day reality.....common sense tells any reasonable person this.....Therefore, this is what is needed.....1) Any responsible, tax paying legal resident of the USA, with NO felony record, is perfectly entitled to keep and bear firearms that serve purposes like personal defense or hunting. The second Amendment was geared toward such function and roles for firearms in guaranteeing this "right". AR-15s (and ALL other ASSAULT Rifles) do not fall under the aegis of the 2nd Amendment and therefore should be banned, illegal and confiscated. Possession of such a weapon by a citizen should be a felony. You cannot just sit back and shrug and go about playing Deuces Wild and DDB Dreamcard, shouting "2nd AMendment!" While these massacres are perpetrated with such frequency and ease....but I'm willing to hear ALTERNATIVE solutions, ideas or actions or measures to address this escalating problem. If you are intent on adopting the NRA position which is NO RESTRICTIONS, NO LIMITATIONS on ANY firearms by type or classification, then what WOULD you do to try and PREVENT such massacres from happening? (*NOTE Arming schools and their employees with firearms is a REACTIVE response, not Preventative. Would-be assailants with Assault rifles are NOT rational, or sane, and you cannot count on them being "deterred" by a teacher with a six shot revolver.)There must be an ATTEMPT or MEASURE Taken to at least LIMIT or curtail the availability and ease of purchase of Assault Rifles.

CBS' Blue Bloods just ran a school shooting episode. They're sure on the cutting edge.

Well stated DaBurglar! As a country of rules and laws, something must be done to stop these shootings. Nothing will change unless there are some drastic measures taken. If it inconveniences the law abiding citizen, well deal with it. Stop being selfish and be part of the solution!

The answer is obvious.
More guns. Bigger guns.
Mandatory gun training starting preschool.
Handguns for the younger kids, AR 15s for the older ones.
Uzis for the school staff.
Safety thru superior firepower.

Safety thru superior firepower.I'd laugh if it weren't for the fact that as soon as I finish gigglesnorting, the reality will again set in that this problem is only going to get worse and worse, and perpetuate itself simply because of the (1) GREED, and influence, of the absurd NRA and (2) the willful, arrogant obstinance of typically right wing conservative gun enthusiasts who make the astounding leaps of logic that somehow limiting or controlling several SPECIFIC types of firearms that are too lethal, too dangerous and too "MUCH" to be in the hands of civilians is going to INEVITABLY lead to the banning of all types of Gun ownership. The arguments against banning and confiscating certain types of firearms (like AR-15s and similar weapons, Automatic Weapons, etc) all boil down to the fact that the company(ies) that produce such weapons are desperate to continue making the profits they are, so they employ lobbyists and work with the NRA to ensure they buy enough support from the right legislators (senate & the house) to thwart ANY real attempt to eliminate the presence of profoundly lethal weapons from civilian/general society.I can live with responsible people having handguns for protection, hunting rifles for sport and for food procurement/livestock protection, and other firearm variants for similar purposes. Of course even THESE weapons can (and have) be utilized for nefarious purposes, but there still is a HUGE discernible gap between a 9mm with a 12-15 mag clip and a AR-15 with a bumpstock and NUMEROUS 40-50 round mags. No reason whatsoever a 19 year old "kid" should be able to legally purchase the latter......NONE. ZIP. NADA Has nothing to do whatsoever with what was written by James Madison, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson et al back in 1787......
