Re: My Journey on Video Poker
Cut loss by 27% and rack up more points. Not a bad finish.

Work now the middle of March madness, likely not battling with the vp gods for a bit of a spell... also going on my first cruise (minus the Navy which doesn’t count) next week. However, still might squeeze a session(s) in between now and then.
In a quick other note, listened to a radio show of a compulsive gambler who’s flavor of choice was....guess...video poker. Video poker getting bad press it seems recently which I find interesting to it’s much lower house edge then say, slots. But as Dancer has pointed out many times earlier, the reporting for vp in the papers is usually inaccurate or incomplete such as confusing coin-in with actually money put in. Or confusing coin-thru with loss. However I have no doubt there are problem gamblers playing vp and the line between non-problem and problem can get thin indeed. The differences can be few but there are differences to be sure. Such as adhering to a strategy, bankroll management, studying the paytables, learning to play correctly, time management, so forth. It can be a good future discussion, but right now, I have to go!
Cheers

VP gods decide enough is enough...
Left work early and decided to do battle one more time before the vacation/cruise. Played .25c 5 play deuces and just couldn’t get enough going. Lost my first $500 after a lengthy battle including one flopped three deuces and two threes for flopped 5oak. Book says to keep it...which I did. But always a tough hold and wonder if tonight would of been a lot different if I did run it with three 2’s. We will never know. Pulled out another $500 which is what I had left and vp gods were greedy tonight and took that as well, quicker this time.
So minus $1k tonight as I leave the battle wounded and fatigued. Still up for this month, but still feel damaged and 1k less for the trip.
Oh well, it’s the risk we take in this game. As Dancer said, if you can’t handle the losses, pick another hobby like bowling.
Cheers!

They had a grand time with your BR for sure. I feel bad dumping a straight flush with three deuces on the site.

I thought you only keep a 3-deuces 5oak if it's broadway cards. Otherwise you go for the deuces.

For NSU or airport deuces, holding all 5oaks is better.
And, for those crappy pay schedules paying less than 75 for 5oak, going for the deuces is better.

Yes, sorry, broadway cards are ten through ace. It's a common term in poker, I wasn't aware it wasn't more well known in video poker.

CheersI got to think its not knowing the holds well and bankroll size. Many want to play DDB, me I stay far away from that game and I have 99.91% pay tables! People all around me playing DDB going bust while I just play my boring JOB or BP. There was a women yesterday playing TDB and I have seen her many times playing this game on a bad pay table $5 a hand.. She hits 4 Aces after holding 2 and no kicker and slams the machine pissed as no kicker came in. Maybe she was down big not sure but them bonus games can take a bit out of the bankroll.

99.9 should be fine, but they always whine. Variance will likely tear you a new one. I too keep it simple with my JOB and BP. Bad pay table? Nope, not able.
