A book like this will never be written.Â
Why don't you write one? Surely it'll be a best seller.

I'm somewhat surprised that the coin select button on nickel and dime is still unblocked. This just allows nuisance players to nickel and dime a casino 24/7. These players add very little marginal revenue. Of course, they can then simply tie up the quarter bank, which would infuriate me.

It could be worse. Keno Ploppers playing one nickel at a time. Play all day, everyday.

I have only seen the coin button blocked two times. The first was on a group of three $5 machines. Just before that, I hit those machines for three consecutive single coin $1,000 quad deuces a week apart. I am positive this was pure coincidence and had nothing to do with the casino's decision. I believe they blocked the coin button to keep single coin players from monopolizing the $5 machines. This idea must have backfired on them as they unblocked the buttons a month later. The second was when I tried to play single coin 9/6 dollar Jacks in Hollywood to gain better odds. They since changed the dollar odds to 8/5 taking that option away.

I haven't seen that book. I thought she was about clipping coupons and free comedy shows. I didn't think she talked much about VP strategy. The single coin vs. max coin controversy needs a chapter on it's own. If you're a Vegas player with access to positive VP games or you live in the high limit room with generous comps, your choices are well defined. If you are a retiree living on a budget and you want play a couple of days a
week to have something to do, things get more complex. The world of negative VP is much different than the VP you read about in strategy books. When playing negative VP, you are fighting to hold down losses instead of waiting out jackpots.

The casino makes their money from people who believe they have an edge when they don't.  If you ask players as they walk into the casino what they expect, they will all say they expect to win. Stand at the exits and watch them walk out. My bet is you won't see many winners.
EVERYONE EXPECTS to win when they come into a casino? That's a ludicrous statement. Maybe most, if not all, patrons would LIKE to win, but EXPECT to? Come on.
The casino does make a lot of their money off those addicted to playing, but not all of those addicts delusionally believe they will win long-term.

Stand in front of a casino and ask this question as people walk in. "Do you think you will win today?" My guess is you will hear "I hope so" or "I always win" or "I won last month". Do you think you will hear anyone say "These games are negative and I expect to lose"? I doubt it.Last spring we went to Bilxoi for my birthday. We stayed at the Beau RIvage for three days completely comped. We played max coin quarter VP so they would invite us back next time. The games were terrible as we expected. The games we were playing were 6/5 Bonus Poker and 100/60 deuces wild, both are 96-97% games. Thanks to a royal flush, I came home with money. My wife lost about $400 bucks. We had a great time and didn't over pay for our vacation. We considered that a win.If we had ignored the odds and played like we had an advantage, we could have lost thousands. If you are going to play negative games, you have to know how to play them. There is strategy in playing negative games just like there is when you play with an advantage. That's what VP strategy books should talk about. Telling people not to play games that they are going to play anyway is not helping anyone except the casinos.

Well done, sir. Keep the dollar max pot shotting to an absolute minimum and you will have a good time with minimal outlay. And by ANY AND ALL means, move. I know you are Mr. Move. You are bound to find a hot machine.

If Phil wrote a book it would have 20 chapters. He would write the first chapter and then repeat it 19 times
