Jacks or Better newbie,

So, if you have to bet 5 to receive full pay odds, what odds does each incremental bet above 5 pay? If you bet 6, 7, 8 or more, do they pay full odds? Hope that was clear enough. In other words, do you improve the overall payout percentages by betting more than 5? Or, do you need to bet in increments of 5?

I did not phrase that well. If you have to bet 5 to receive true odds, 9/6 8/5 or whatever the machine is set at, do bets over 5 receive true odds?

While there are a few video poker machines around that provide the opportunity to bet more than five credits per hand, most machines do not.

From the few I've seen 5 credits is the minimum bet required to receive full pay table. Anything above that increases proportionally with no Royal Flush penalties.

in one of my local casinos you have to bet 10 to receive a 4,000 royal flush on 9/6 JOB. on bet 11 it goes to 4,250 and so on.

At Coushatta casino in Louisiana there are two rows of machines with a max bet of 10 where you must bet the max to recieve the full 8000 credits. Any lower bets pay only 300 per credit.
