Bob, that was 20 years ago, and you have admitted that a partial reason for the big win was an overly generous casino as well as errors in player's points that benefitted you and Shirley. I would be surprised if you believe that a million dollar winning stretch is possible for a VP player in today's casino environment.

Jean Scott won $500,000 cash in a single tournament. Most of these tournaments are invite only so you have to play your way in.

Phil is just constantly under the impression that because he's a big overall loser in VP that most everyone else must be, too. It's beyond his comprehension how anyone could possibly win in VP because he doesn't.

That is not true at all. I am very aware of my shortcomings when it comes to VP. Why do you think I play small? I know the games I have to play are negative. I know I can't play computer perfect forever. I know I don't have the discipline to weather huge losses. I also know I am not alone.
I do not believe anyone can walk off the streets and expect to get rich playing video poker. I believe all professional players must have some source of steady revenue. That source could be a business, some investments, an inheritance or a dozen others. It takes money to play this game even if you only play positive games, especially if you are going to play at a high level. There is no way to escape that fact.
How you get your bankroll does not diminish the fact that you are successful. These players succeed where millions of other players fail. The original poster asked some good questions. I want him to have all the facts, not just the ones that sound good.

Was the premise that professional gambling requires a bankroll ever in doubt?

No. The premise that high stakes video poker players got rich playing video poker alone is. Who cares? If a forum member is going ask the question "To those who have made significant money with VP: What do you do?", we should tell them one of the requirements is they have significant money to start with. In real life people don't quit their jobs, start playing quarter VP with pocket change and end up millionaires. If in fact that happened, it would make a great book. The second question would be "Can you still do it today?"

Webman has reinstated all Forum privileges. In return, he asked us to observe forum rules. I am doing my best to keep those rules. I don't believe what I have posted so far has broken any rules. If I break the rules, I should be banned. If you disagree with what I post and it's not against the rules, your alternative is to ban anyone who disagrees with you.Waiting4RF wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:11 amBill,

I don't think your particular preoccupations have anything to do with what the original poster was asking, which was about the kinds of +EV video poker plays. I do not see any mention of kids from the ghetto, getting rich, inheritance, etc.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 3:52 amNo. The premise that high stakes video poker players got rich playing video poker alone is. I was responding to your post.
Quote by DW44 "This notion that video poker pros all come from wealthy families is really bonkers."
Do you know any successful professional VP players who started out poor who live a "nice lifestyle" from VP? What good are +EV video poker plays if you don't have money to play?
