The highs and lows
Have played VP since 1991. 45 Royal flushes, 2 20,000 1 8,000 22 4,000 19 1,000. 1 progressive at the Gold Coast in Vegas in 1996 for 8,300. Most on Double Bonus or Bonus Poker. Best yr. 2008 won 78,000 Worst yr. 2009 lost 110,000. Most session wins in a row 16. Most session losses in a row 11. Down 280,000 since 1991. Most up 17,000 and lost it all, greed. Been dealt everything but a royal. Now I play just quarters, happy with just going with 500 and coming home up 20 - 30 percent. Back to lurking.

Welcome to the forum Nose!
Looks like down about 10k a year since 91. What it comes down to is do you feel you got good value for the loss? Less then a 1k loss a month to some is a lot, to others it's not. There is always a cost to play, depending on pay tables, free play, gas and food vouchers, rooms, any comped item helps.
I play nickels to dollars and every thing in between. Most times 99.5% always single line.
Quarter play is really the level for most players I see playing these days. $500 bankroll works well on JOB and BP.

My VP results have pretty much been the same. Lots of ups and lots of downs. I've done my share of experimenting. Back to playing max coin quarters with a little dollar play throw in when the muse hits me.
VP gives me what I want, quality entertainment and good times. It hasn't always been great, but it hasn't been that bad either. These days I don't concern myself with other people's results. I don't fret over my game's odds either. I play the best games I have to play and let happen what happens. My royals show up on time, which keeps me playing. I consider the cost of playing VP comparable to other forms of entertainment.

You guys are great, share great info,Phil I agree with what you say on a lot of VP play.If all there is to play is 7/5 bonus poker, then I play, and most times go home a winner. Most of my losses came from 5 dollar full pay. 10,000 a yr it is what it is,not crying over all the fun that I had.

The problem with odds is you begin to think you can't win unless you have positive games to play. You find yourself losing playing great games and winning playing what some players consider bad games. You begin to question the fairness of the games. You try to reinvent the wheel. Mostly, you just make things worse.
Beating the casino is not something I set as a personal goal. It was difficult 20 years ago and it's more difficult today. Considering yourself a failure because you can't is counter productive. That's like giving up on golf because you can't hit a hole in one on every hole. What matters to me is if at the end of the year I feel like I got my money's worth. So far, I have.
Seeking out the best games and playing accurately is advantageous. It lets you play more hands with your money giving you more chances at a jackpot. If you think that's the road to riches, one day a complete idiot next to you will be dealt a royal flush. Video poker can be pretty humbling at times.

Sounds average. Unicorn today. Lady drew two to $4,000 TDB RF. She took a photo, signed off and resumed play two seats away. I'm burning rubber.
