Re: Found 99 percent machines at Mohegan Sun that pay points
Video poker has so many parallels with fishing. It's like buying a half million dollar boat, rigging it with $20,000 worth of tackle, filling it with fuel, docking the thing and employing a captain to keep it running. At the end of the day, you come home with two or three mahi-mahi. When you get home you tell your wife how great it is to get free fish.

Your posts would be a lot less irritating if you would refrain from making gratuitous comments like this.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:48 amAre you prepared to lose $200K? Why not move up to $5 machines? Our expert says they are profitable.

I am sorry if you find my comments irritating. If you like we can pull up the expert's comments so we can see if they apply to this thread. Here is the expert's thread so you don't have to look it up. https://www.videopoker.com/forum/viewto ... 58#p112658 What was the purpose of this thread if it wasn't to urge players to play bigger?onemoretry wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 7:43 amYour posts would be a lot less irritating if you would refrain from making gratuitous comments like this.FloridaPhil wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 3:48 amAre you prepared to lose $200K? This thread justifies gambling $25 a hand. At 500 hands an hour, that's $12,500 dollars an hour in coin in. On a bad day a player could easily lose $50,000. It goes on to explain how a professional player with an unlimited bankroll views these games. What possible benefit does this post have to a Recreational player like Olds442jetaway? Is the expert going to advance Olds $200K when he misses a string of royals?
Olds is talking about playing a losing game four times bigger than he does now. I assume he posted his thoughts to get other member's opinions. I posted mine. Instead of siding with the expert, why don't you provide us with your own thoughts. Do you want to see him play five dollar 98.9% games?

Some members of this forum think my only purpose for being on this forum is to contradict VP experts. That is entirely untrue. I agree with most of what the experts tell me. I agree playing positive VP games perfectly gives you the best chance of making a long term profit. Where we disagree is how we disperse this information. I don't think it's a good idea for players to believe any VP games are beatable. I would prefer they believe they are not. Beating the casino is a long shot at best. Out of the millions who try, only a hand full actually do.
The problem comes when players pay attention to only what they want to hear and ignore the rest. They may not have the right games to play. They may not have the skills or physical ability to play like a computer. Most do not have the bankroll or the tolerance it takes to weather the terrible financial storms they must endure.
If video poker was a drug controlled by the FDA, the government would force strategy sellers to print all kinds of disclaimers on their products. Here's the bad part. Video poker "IS" a drug. It's extremely addictive and can be harmful if taken in large doses. Experts should warn players about overdosing on VP instead of spending their time encouraging them to take bigger doses. I think anyone who promotes gambling as a profit making opportunity should be responsible for the losses of people who try and fail.

Gambling can be an addiction for some. Gambling includes all the forms of games in a casino, not just video poker. The old post you included is not encouraging someone to play $5 denomination VP. The post explains what needs to be considered before deciding to play $5 games. The decision is yours.

Why was it necessary to explain why gambling $12,500 an hour is worthwhile? Did anyone ask for this information? Do you think anyone may be influenced to gamble bigger if they believe gambling is more profitable at higher denominations?Waiting4RF wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 11:24 amThe old post you included is not encouraging someone to play $5 denomination VP. The truth is the more money you run through these machines, the more money you put at risk. Casinos and VP experts know this all too well. That's why the the odds are better at higher denominations and the comps are greater. I don't care if someone wants to risk $25 a hand or $100 a point playing VP. That's their business. It's when they try to convince others to follow them that I have a problem.

It is simply beyond me to see how anyone could interpret that lengthy Bob Dancer post as "urging" people to play at the $5 level. I'm glad to see that you agree.Waiting4RF wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 11:24 amThe old post you included is not encouraging someone to play $5 denomination VP. Why even talk about it? This person is a VP celebrity. People listen to what he says and they should. He should think about the ramifications of what he says before he says them. Who wouldn't want to live a nice lifestyle sitting at a video poker machine? Telling people how you do it makes people want to do the same.onemoretry wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 12:07 pmIt is simply beyond me to see how anyone could interpret that lengthy Bob Dancer post as "urging" people to play at the $5 level. Why not write a book explaining winning VP methodology and leave out the commercial for high limit play? Is a long term profit strategy playing quarters any less significant than one at $25 a hand? The vast majority of video poker players today would do better financially if they played smaller not bigger. This is because most all the VP games today are negative and comps are not big enough to change that. The games have changed. VP experts should as well.

It seems to me that the Bob Dancer post was a reaction to a barrage of posts about negative video poker in a couple of different threads (The World of Negative VP being one), where there was considerable focus on $5 play.
To repeat, his post goes to great lengths to explain the process of identifyng all the factors that need to be considered to evaluate a play. While the post title refers to $5 video poker, the process itself applies to all denominations. I can see absolutely nothing in the post "urging" folks to play higher stakes.
