It "only" takes 650,000 hands or so on average to get a dealt royal. On games where aces with a kicker count the same as a royal, there are three times as many as dealt royals.
On most of the weekly contests, there will be 5-8 such jackpots. then it comes down to what else did you get in addition to the dealt royal!
These are not games of skill. They are see if you can get a dealt royal contests. Since the prize structure is so low, I'm surprised they get millions of plays a week. But they do. People are playing on a 2 cents an hour opportunity. It's hard to imagine not having anything better to do with your time.

Bob, you are aware that winning one of these "nothing better to do with your time, low prize value" contests gets you an invite to the annual Seven Stars contest in which the prize structure is much better, right?

Ted is referring to the Tournament of Champions, of course (not the 7 Star, which is monthly). However, I'm sure Mr. Dancer will not be convinced this increases the value enough to be worth his time. That's okay... clearly he is not our target audience with these contests. I'm sure he has more lucrative ways to spend his time.
Of course, the people who do participate view it differently. I'm guessing Mr. Dancer is also not a fan of Candy Crush. Most free games on the internet have zero monetary gain, and many games actually cost you money to play. So the opportunity for prizes here is somewhat of a bonus... to the people who are simply interested in playing authentic casino games at home, for free.
If you look at the games as a revenue per hour opportunity as Mr. Dancer has done, it's obviously not going to be very high. If we were to pay people an average of $15 per hour to play the free games on this site, I'm sure he would start to think it is a good opportunity. And the site would probably have to close down after about 15 minutes.
Back to the original subject... I think it has been answered adequately. There are so many people playing in the Daily and Weekly contests, that someone is going to get lucky with a dealt jackpot.
If you want a more skilled contest, the Monthly Contest is probably the closest you will get at the moment. It is single hand, which weighs a dealt royal and the much more frequent draw to a royal equally. So a single dealt hand is far from sufficient to win. Your supporting hands and even the game you elect to play throughout the month will make skill far more important than in a weekly contest. Of course, you're probably still going to need some royals to end up on top, but we have seen Top Ten finishes without a single royal. The weight of skillful play is much higher in that particular contest.
We have run some contests where skill played an even greater role in the past. We may do so again in the future.

I offer my sincerest apologies for mixing up the monthly Seven Stars contest with the annual Tournament of Champions contest. I hope this did not creat bouts of heart burn for anyone and for those who do participate in any of the contest I say best of luck to each and every one of them.
