moving to a new state

Post by notes1 »

on another thread, there were some comments about moving to florida. the topic of moving somewhere new, sparked a pet peeve i have had for many years. we livid in NYS for 33 years, then moved to NC for the next 29 years and now call florida (3 years) our permanent home. this does not make me an expert on the subject.

we enjoyed each move we made. there are positives and negatives about any location. but, what really ticks me off are those 'yankees' (i was/am one), who cannot stand the high taxes, the rules/regulations, the over expansive amount of government/politicians in the state they leave, move somewhere else and start demanding more of those costly benefits and regulations.

if one wants free college for all, free healthcare for everyone (legal and illegal), guaranteed income for those 'unwilling' to work, college debt forgiveness, and all the other freebies that result in higher taxes, stay where you are. do not screw up the place you are moving to, just like the place you left behind.

I hear you Notes and in fact people are bailing out on these states. For now, I am here. 95 year young dad still in his own home which is great, but I am the closest child to him in distance so as you can imagine I make many of the 3 mile trips to dads if not overnights all the time. My wife grew up in Florida, Mass, and Ct and she would head for Fla tomorrow. Actually, plan to look up Mr and Mrs Phil when the time comes and bail out of the sinkhole we live in. The winters get brutal as we get older which adds to the mess the crooked politicians perpetuate.

They aren't fleeing the liberal states. We are missionaries,, bringing light into previously dark areas.
We've flipped Nevada. Florida is next. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I don't know what you mean by flipped Nevada. In the last 7 presidential elections, Nevada has voted for the Democrat 5 times. And I seem to recall a Senator Harry Reid whose seat remained democrat after he retired. The other seat has gone back and forth between Democrats and Republicans. Since 1971 the Democrats have held the governorship for 28 of the 48 year time span. Nevada is a purple state. BTW. My perception of Florida is the same.

br, i am afraid, very afraid. good news/bad news, i will likely not live long enough to see the full effect of your teams positions, in their quest for power.

i still remember your 2016 predictions; H wins white house, dems take house and senate and dems appoint next two members of scotus.

remember, no collusion.

do us a favor, which of the following proposals by members of your team, do YOU support;
-abortion up to birth
-free healthcare for all living in america, legal or illegal
-reparations
-voting age lowered to age 16
-allow voting for criminals still serving time
-open borders
-free college
-student loan debt forgiveness
-higher taxes
-guaranteed income for all, including those unwilling to work
-medicare for all, and how is it paid for
-green new deal

Notes......remember picking strawberries for a nickel a basker? I started working at age 8. One semester at UCONN , I had to borrow 300 bucks from my parents. It drove me crazy to have to ask them so I worked 2 jobs besides studies to pay them right back. The jobs thatAmerican kids won’t do anymore.......we did them all and were glad to have any job in our younger years.

olds, many of our generation worked from a young age, it was expected. i just retired after paying into SS and medicare for 50 years. now, some are demanding medicare for all. since the year 2000, the labor participation rate for young folks has been dropping, especially among males. this is the age group to receive 'participation' awards, and told they were all special. end result...entitlement and socialism.

i find it funny that BR seems to take pride in the fact that many left leaning, high tax/regulated states are losing population, such as CA, NY and ILL. and, those folks are moving elsewhere, to screw up another state.

i just wonder how he might feel if a large group of muslims or some other religious group opposed to gambling, moved and took over nevada.

You mean like Mormons? Who do you think owns much of the land in Las Vegas? Funny that you name Muslims as a group I'm supposed to be afraid of.

i had no idea what religions were or were not opposed to gambling, so i googled 'religions against gambling'. it lead me to a site 'what world religions think about gambling. is it a sin?' it listed the position of a variety of religions and pointed out that ' islam is the only major religion that is undeniably against gambling'. THAT IS A DIRECT QUOTE.

you are such a typical liberal, label/insinuate someone is a racist. you have done it so much, it no longer works.

and, of course you are so busy calling people names, you did not address the question of how you would feel if some group, muslim or otherwise, moved to your adopted state and changed the culture.

b/t/w, you neglected to select which of the many proposals members of your team are in favor of, as something you are also endorsing. you can add socialism to the list. i await your response.

This post hit the nail on the head ! Colorado has been invaded by those leaving CA. After overspending for their houses they are slowly turning CO into CA. All the beautiful open space is going away and the highways are beginning to look like every other large city.
