So Sea Lion do you actually believe that RNG's are being manipulated in Las Vegas? If yes, obviously they were manipulated in your favor when you were dealt AWAK evidenced by the picture you posted in another forum post.
You betcha! Like I mentioned, there is software that can do that. If some of these casinos knew they could get away with it by just eating a fine, why wouldn't they? There is a golden rule known to locals and that is "Thou shall not fish on the strip". That hit was at Sams Town in Nov 2016, and that particular machine malfunction was paid in my favor. Funny how that works! ;) That machine is no longer at Sams Town unfortunately. Another little known fact here is if any machine (slot, VP, Keno, or otherwise) is paying out more than it is taking in, it will be removed from the floor.

I do believe this has happened. I have witnessed this myself. The Tampa Hard Rock had a group of three $5 machines on the floor a few years ago. Playing $20 a time, I hit them for $1,000 each time three weeks in a row. I was not the only player taking advantage of the bounty. The next week they blocked the bet button forcing you to bet $25 a hand. No one played them, so they removed those machines entirely. Coincidence? Maybe. It happened.

I don't see this as cheating on the casino's part. They have every right to pick what machines are on their floor. If you had an employee that was costing you $1,000 a week, would you fire him?

I agree, removing a "non performing" machine is not cheating. The floor is a business and has every right to be ran like one. It's nice to find them though hahahaha!

If that employee was not performing and costing the company money every week instead of making the company money, then he would get the boot.... just like the machine.

So if you believe that even one casino in Las Vegas is not on the up and up, why would you just stop at thinking only one casino is not on the up and up and just think that every casino in Las Vegas is cheating? As for the picture, why didn't you post that it was from 2 1/2 years ago? I for one, was thinking it was a recent event.

Here, read this: https://gaming.nv.gov/index.aspx?page=107 then tell me that all casinos here are on the up and up.

That photo was for another thread about getting low cards with a kicker dealt. Not saying it can't happen, it just doesn't happen like it used to.

I read thru most of them. I didn't read any complaints about rigged video poker machines. I did read some interesting things about Mr. Winn's lady problems. He definitely has issues. Did I miss something?

Yet, you're convinced that some vp machines are illegal? Why?

Someone I know who worked as a programmer told me that the RNG can be tinkered with. By seeing how "tighter" VP machines have got over the last 15 years or so tends me to believe this. It is possible for software to be used that can alter the RNG and fly under the radar if audited. I believe the RNG must spin at a rate of no slower than 100 times per second and not predetermine what card is dealt. Over 90% of the hands dealt are and result in crappy hands. I hate knowing this! I hate believing this!! I need to smack someone with my flipper!!! :x

Having said this, I will never break up with VP. I love the game too much!! The big fish can still be caught. Just has to be at the exact right time when I smack that deal and draw button with... my flipper.

I am a retired computer programmer with years of experience in writing code. I am also a former Microsoft and Novell network engineer. I'll take an informed SWAG (Scientific Wide Ass Guess) at the issue you brought up.

In order for the regulators to conduct their tests, the chip must be created with standardized architecture. I am sure the game manufacturers and the regulators are on the same page with this standard. The State employees who run these tests are not computer engineers. They are only trained to run the test and report the results. Any deviations from the standard chip set would be detectable. Rumors to the contrary are unsubstantiated. I did read of a situation where an engineer reprogrammed a specific machine with a jackpot "back door". That was many years ago and it was detected.

As I have contended, I don't believe the regulators test anything off the motherboard. This is why I believe some casinos are using poor machine maintenance to increase their return to be closer to slots. This is very common. You almost never find a slot machine with bad buttons, only video poker machines.

Some members of this forum have stated they believe the networking of machines facilitates cheating. While theoretically possible, this would also be detectable by the regulator's tests.

The truth is anything is possible. The real question is "Why would they cheat when they would be risking their license and risking the loss of customers if discovered? If this was discovered in some unregulated casino out in the boon docks, it might be plausible. Widespread cheating in Las Vegas? I seriously doubt it.

Casinos don't need to cheat. Very few positive video poker games exist anywhere on a regular basis. Those that do are in quarters. What casino is going to all the trouble and expense of creating and installing an outlaw processor to screw you out of a $1,000 royal flush? My home casino in Tampa reportedly nets close to a $Billion dollars a year in revenue. If they're cheating, they are doing one hell of a job.

I also believe the ability to play video poker 100% computer perfect forever is pure fantasy. Can a 72 year old like me do it? Can you? Captain America backup by both Batman and Superman can't either. If someone could and it started to hurt the casino financially, he would be banned faster than you can cash a white ticket.

The best way to treat this is to play where you feel the machines are fair. If no casino gives you that confidence, don't play video poker. The machines are fair. The RNG picks numbers out of the air totally at random. Anything can happen and it probably will. After it does, there will always be players who think it was engineered that way.
