And people think gamblers are superstitious!
Most gamblers are at least somewhat superstitious even if we know it is crazy to be that way. That said, my everyday home base casino takes the cake. As I have posted here in the last few days, I have had some substantial short term wins. So what does Mohegan Sun do in response to that? Pull all of my comp room offers for at least the next several months. What Idiots. All they have to do is look at their own math. I have never had a winning year by year end. Most of us won't unless we hit a big progressive jackpot. One would think to look back at a player's play and see that every year he has left tens of thousands of dollars at the casino. Nearly every trip is a loser and when he has short term wins, he almost always gives it back and then some in short order. So you would think if you were a smart business person....Hmmmmm get him here and do what you have to do to keep him here and keep him playing. Pretty simple right? The math is with them. The player history is with them. I just don't get it. At least I have other options and believe me, I will be using them. I had a guess you would have to say funny conversation with my new host today. His initial answer was, well you just won 4,000 dollars but I will look into it. Am I missing something here or is my above idea of a good business plan for the casino a poor one?

The hefty jackpot triggered the comp clamp down. Mitigating circumstances were ignored. Time to hit up the competition. Keep on donating!

I sincerely believe that many of the people making these types of decisions have no idea what they are doing.

Eliminate your competition and you can eliminate customer service.

Yep that is true accross the board. Luckily, I’ve got 2 other casinos I can go to close by. More coming. If the Ct casinos aren’t careful, they will end up being bingo halls like when they first opened.

Foxwoods and MS must be immensely competitive, given their ten mile separation.

They all should be forced to watch the movie "Casino" and learn those immortal words spoken by Ace Rothstein: "In the casino, the cardinal rule is to keep them playing, and keep them coming back. The longer they play, the more they lose. In the end, we get it all." And: "You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some twenty-five-year old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number."onemoretry wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2019 7:01 amI sincerely believe that many of the people making these types of decisions have no idea what they are doing.

I once saw a quote attributed to Benny Binion. I can't recall all its details specifically, however, the gist was: I'd rather make 0.5% of $100 million than 3% of $1 million.
